As a former teamster I suspect we are headed to the dark ages. I wasn’t a Hoffa fan at all but at least most likely he would’ve let the employees vot on their future. What democratic process? As I told my daughter yesterday, you have no choice, the choice you do have is a manufactured one and here it is. The poor DHL workers, godbless them, there going to need it.

Yellow was a gift-wrapped turd left on O'Brien's desk by Hoffa. But, yeah, OZ's version of the magazine should have included an explanation. TeamsterLink can be an alternative source of information (if bizarro conspiracy theorists don't clog it up).

Agreed , it was a problem left over from Hoffa but it still should have been voted by the members. They had the right to take part in that decision, after all it was their lives .

Maybe Hoffa left this one around just long enough to leave this turd right on the OZ camps doorstep. It would have been the class thing to do to address the members who lost their jobs. A lot of these members weren’t always Yellow employees. Yellow bought a bunch of regional carriers and put them out of business. A public address just seemed right.

Hoffa kept it on life-support but this was the OZ plan. Don't think it didn't matter.

No shit, if you were a shipper using Yellow and saw this from the union, how long would it take you to pick up the phone and find an alternative?

O'Brien knew if the members were allowed to vote, they would vote to keep their jobs.He also knew they would harbor anamosity towards Oz. He made a political calculation and put these members out on the street. Make no mistake for all their talk about loyalty, these guys only care about staying in office. They would sell thier mothers out for re-election. Sad day when you blow up the lives of 20,000 members and their famalies. So much for organizing in our most core of industries. It all started with freight.

It may have started with freight, but OZ only cares about Big Brown now. This administration believes this union bleeds brown and everyone else is just there to pay dues to pay the PR firm. Oh, and fuck freight! According O'Lyin, there won't be any union freight companies in 5 years, so why try to organize or keep yellow going!

The problem with Yellow was an out of control CEO who mismanaged their coffers. I for one would have to tip my hat to O'Brien for standing his ground and not giving in to a ridiculous notion that it is the problem of the union and not the company that they are begging for MORE concessions. This guy was nothing more than another Andrew Carnegie, another employee suck up and stick it kinda guy. I would agree that Hoffa was open for business and O'Brien was his top henchman (basically his b!tch).

Conspiracy theorist? Can I get a proper explanation of what that is? A person who theorizes a conspiracy I assume.
