Should the IBT drop "Brotherhood" from its name? Does "Brotherhood" dismiss the contributions of Teamster women? Interesting article about Allan Baird's decades long attempt to have the name of the Teamsters reflect the actual make-up of its membership.

Does the General President have the authority to change the name of the entire union? I wouldn't think so. Seems like something for delegates to debate at a convention.

I believe delegates voted against dropping "Brotherhood" at the 1996 Convention in Philadelphia.
