I watched his video. So if he goes to 4 meetings a year as a VP and does not presently have a job at the IBT and only needs to be present for a few days every 3 month why cant he go back to his job at ABF. What makes him so special that he doesn’t have to work? He seems like he’s in his sixties. Why not retire from ABF and collect his pension on top of his $90,000 IBT salary?

not looking to criticize, just looking for a reason. I am asking as a rank and file member who pays dues and actually deserves to know.

This interview is impressive, its the first time I've heard Palmer . He knows the union, is honest about its faults and the challenges ahead. No wonder O'Brien is trying to make him ineligible, fear of an honest Teamster like Palmer catching on.

He's got his helmet on and his chin strap snapped.

His review of the UPS negotiations was spot on. The next election isn't until 2026 and alot can change but I'd really like to know who he's considering for a slate.

This unimpressive. Why couldn't he raise issues while at the GEB meetings, but he goes on social media to criticize? Does he actually do anything beyond going to 4 meetings a year (and misses half of the meeting days), yet collects a full VP salary and benefits? The GEB members who are Directors or Division reps don't get more than their constitutionally mandated salary. Must be nice to throw stones while sitting at home doing nothing.

If he does run, there aren't too many I would vote for anyway. If you wore that red vest and chanted Hoffa, I am done with you. If you are a phony ass reformer who showed up to the party late just for the notoriety, you are scum of the earth. So what's left?

He was articulate and honest. Surprisingly...but given the fact that he bought into the government/tdu/oz conspiracy to weaken the Teamsters, and allow and in fact cheered on the use of the IIO/diGenova bulldozing of opposition, I doubt his candidacy will make it to the next convention. Unfortunately, he will be dealt with in the same way he allowed others to be dealt with.

What does is say about Jon Palmers character that he ran for 4 years with OZ. He spent a lot of time with the whole slate. He had to have an idea that this stuff would happen. He has been talking about half these people for the stuff they pulled in the past. So the first chance he gets he runs with them and, gets another five years and now he’s an I Told you so guy. I’m not buying this.

Its hard to argue with what your saying. But right now I'll at least listen to whatever leaders in this union have the courage to stand up. Also what their trying to do to Palmer is dangerous precedent, they could get rid of anyone in office who only worked for the International. This admin has gone after any perceived threats from day one, so people only whisper. This is not what OZ promised and people expected, that's what I heard from Palmer in the interview.

                      That was my thought too.

Good point. They are the retaliation slate. People thought Hoffa was bad. They take any perceived threat and extinguish it.
