    Practice Pickets UPS

How are everyone's locals doing their practice pickets? I got our local to let our Jobs with Justice chapter promote and invite community and other union members. IBT toolkit encourages this, but I wonder how locals are responding. https://teamster.org/ups-teamsters-p...eting-toolkit/

That's bs. There hasn't been a strike at UPS since 97. Nobody knows what being on strike is like. O’briens admin is calling for this so members without union backgrounds can get into the motion of striking, if need be

You want to know how to picket, you pick up a sign and march on the picket line without letting trucks, cars, scabs etc cross the picket line. Pick up your phone and record any person or vehicle trying to aggressively cross the picket line. You picket on your scheduled shift or at whatever time the strike captain tells you otherwise you don't get a strike fund check. You can also get a part time job somewhere else as long as you arrive at your picket time. Stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes. Don't do any stupid shit on the picket line. You will be fired when you come back.

If you live far from your hub, see if your Local or strike captain will allow you to picket at a hub near your home.

Employer will set up cameras and hire tons of rent a cops. Don't be caught on video doing shady shit. People drink during a strike. If you do, don't get shit faced or asshole drunk. Bring noise makers, pitch in to bbq at the line etc. Oh and invite your family, friends, neighbors and clergy

Been through a shit ton of strikes. If UPS locks out our Members, we are eligible for unemployment insurance. I remember tires getting punctured, scabs getting roughed up, air lines cut and windows broken. Shit will happen, but there are cameras everywhere. And make sure to record any scabs coming in or out

Here's some more commonly asked questions. What happens if I have vacation? If the Company pays your vacation before you go on vacation, take the vacation if you need to. If you don't receive a vacation check, consider your vacation cancelled and take part on the picket line. If you are on disability or workers comp while the strike is ongoing and being paid by the State, you may be there in solidarity but you can't walk the picket line.

I pulled up to a plane and someone yelled and asked if I saw "this". They were reading the practice picketing and were busting out laughing.

That is some corny ass shit. It says we at the IBT are all TDU. I’ve said it before. This is a good year. This site came on at the right time of the changing of the guard. As long as its run with integrity it will grow and be the new voice of the reform movement. Tdu is a sell out. They will be breaking up with O’Brien soon after yellow goes out of business and there is a UPS strike that we will say we won because the company will cave but we will lose a significant amount of volume resulting in up to 50,000 jobs lost. Ups shouldn’t want to do this but maybe they do. Maybe they want to downsize their operations raising prices for ground to the levels of significantly lower more desirable valuable volume. Geared more towards medical air international and maybe the creme Dela creme with packages, shipments, and logistics.
