Most Teamster officers and BA's take pride in always following proper procedure when opening a contract. This was a big issue for Zuckerman in 2013. Its hard for me to believe this was a screw-up or another clerical error. What could it be?

They never had the intention to strike. To many TAs have been reached. The authorization was announced to pacify all the pissed off members.

O'Brien quickly changed his aggressive words. There will be a deal in place.

Fraud Suckerman is another idiot too. Something good for him landed in his lap (The Vote No Movement). He voted yes to that contract at the two man committee, then came out against it. Fraud never questioned the content of the contract at the meeting. He could care less about the people who pay his salary either. He simply wanted to advance his own cause. When kissing Hoffa's ass wasn't good enough, he ran against him. He told me on the phone that his local paid $400,000 on the movement. That was money to pump up his status. He didn't give a rat's ass about the cause.

60 day notice is only required to "open" the contract by sending a letter to the employer informing them of the unions desire to terminate the current agreement at expiration and bargain new terms a form letter also has to be sent to FMCS letting them know the contract has been opened. This is the 60 day notice, if this is done the Union can take legal strike action at anytime after expiration (some perishable commodity apply).

Did the Negotiating Committee ever give notice that they would be striking if no deal was reached? Just wondering.
