When O'Brien was first sworn in as Teamsters GP in 2022 he was attending anti-oligarchy rallies with Bernie Sanders and Sara Nelson.

O'Brien's decisions to meet with Trump and support anti-labor politicians like Josh Hawley, Markwayne Mullin, Greg Abbott, Christi Noem, etc., were never expected by the rank and file Teamsters that elected him in 2022.

With his 180 degree reversal on identifying the billionaire class and multi-national corporations as enemies of the working class, it's fair to say that O'Brien and his hapless OZ GEB members, have hoodwinked and betrayed Teamsters that were fooled into buying his militant campaign rhetoric and electing him GP in 2021; I count myself as one that initially supported O'Brien's GP candidacy, maxing out my contributions to the OZ campaign at the urging of Local 251 Principal Officer Matt Taibi.
And ironically, TDU leadership also caved entirely and actively campaigned against any OZ opponents running against OZ in 2026, and like Trump, we're stuck with O'Brien for another term 2027-2032.

Bullshitting the members, as O'Brien has perfected during his four years as GP, has harmed fellow members and brought reproach upon the Union. These constitute violations of the Teamsters Oath of Obligation that O'Brien and all OZ GEB members swore to uphold.

I'm retired and am not permitted to speak at my Local 251 monthly membership meetings. But I encourage any active Teamster member that feels, like so many of us, betrayed by the direction O'Brien has taken our Union consider organizing the following:

When the chair of your Local Union opens your monthly membership meeting for "New Business" or "Good and Welfare", stand up and be counted. Let your Local Union Executive Board and BA's and your fellow rank and file Brothers and Sisters know: NOT IN MY NAME! YOU ARE NOT PAYING UNION DUES TO SUPPORT THE OPENLY ANTI-LABOR AGENDA OF TRUMP AND HIS MAGA MOVEMENT!
