BRO! That is a deflection that Rome is not worthy of. That guy is a self-serving corrupt Old Guard piece of work. Your comment may be accurate...although I don't believe it to be. However, the cases are separate from each other.

Certainly can’t say the same for O’Brien! Ever see him act like an ass at the convention’s?

Yeah he fucked up but his local 853 maintained some of the best contracts in the union. Aloise was the go to guy for anything to do with pensions and right now the WCTPT would be stronger, he never would have given up the .50 p/hr to UPS.

His local did not have UPS at the time. Rome also supported the shit 2018 agreement and second tier 22.4 jobs.

Rome's Costco contracts were as shitty as O'Brien's.

The only difference between these two worthless old guard nepo teamsters is that Rome didn't flunk out of college like O'Brien.

Why would anyone say anything positive about an asshole that stole from the union and negotiated sham contracts to his own benefit? He is barred from membership for a reason. This guy's corrupt acts are indefensible. Cut the shit!

Did you all forget that Rome was busted for bid rigging a Southern Wines & Spirits contract with his college frat brother Charles Bertucio of Grand Fund and intervened in a SW&S contract in Minnesota where he forced the local to rescind the extra $1 they had won through negotiations?

Many may not know, but back in 2005 Rome Aloise had agreed to give up the unlimited pension contributions with Southern Wines and have them be capped at 2080 hours. But back in Southern California Jim Santangelo, Paul Kenny and Patrick Kelly warned Rome that it was a no-go for them in SoCal and that they would out vote Northern California. From then on a rift between Southern California and Northern California ignited.

How many members know about Rome's 2005 attempt to cut a sweetheart deal with Southern Wines over his tight relationship with another frat brother on the company side?

HOW ABOUT ROME ALOISE'S DIRECTIVE TO TEAMSTERS DRIVERS TO CROSS A PRIMARY PICKET LINE - SEE BELOW:

            Strikers Win at Waste Management

            Posted on January 08, 2015

January 8, 2015: Hoffa administration VP Rome Aloise told Teamsters to cross the picket line. But Waste Management workers won a strike that will raise their pay from $12.50 to $20 an hour.

Waste Management workers have won a major strike victory, including living wages and affordable healthcare despite sabotage by a top Hoffa administration official, International Union Vice President Rome Aloise, who told Teamsters to cross their picket line.

When Waste Management supervisors ordered a group of recycling workers to go home and lose a day’s pay in retaliation for organizing for a fair contract, the entire workforce walked out in solidarity.

The walkout was authorized as an unfair labor practice strike by Local 6 of the International Longshore Workers Union (ILWU).

Unions, community groups, and clergy rallied around the striking workers.

But Rome Aloise, the president of Teamster Joint Council 7 and an International Union Vice President, refused to sanction the strike. Local 70 officials waved Teamster drivers through the picket lines.

Teamster Fatcat: Living Wages are ‘Crazy’

Aloise, who made $322,838 last year from three Teamster salaries, denounced the recycling workers’ wage and benefit demands. He told the press that the strike was unrealistic and called the workers “pawns” of their union leadership.

Teamster Local 70 officials issued a statement saying it would be crazy to ask drivers to honor the pickets.

“The slogan and campaign that has been developed is based on a promise that cannot be met and is designed to create false hope for the workers,” Aloise said in a letter to the Alameda Central Labor Council,

Teamster drivers saw it differently. Some bought lunch for the strikers. Others called out sick.

Backed by support from the community and the rest of organized labor, the Waste Management strikers held firm—and won.

Before the strike, a typical Waste Management recycling worker was paid $12.50 an hour. Under the new contract, workers won major annual raises and will make $20.94 in 2019, along with affordable family health benefits.

So much for "false hope" and other Aloise excuses for strike-breaking.

Waste Management is one of the largest Teamster employers.

We need International Union officials who will fight for good contracts, not side with the corporation.

Watcher 745: The article was from the TDU Voice. In These Times published an article corroborating the crossing of picket lines by the Teamster drivers. Is this account in dispute?

Not disputing anything, just never saw this before. Seems strange that TDU has stopped reporting such things. Guess everything is different when you have a seat at the table.

The article I posted was from 2015, before the “Coalition “ was created. In 2015 O’Brien was still a Hoffa, Jr. supporter. And before he made his opportunistic break with Hoffa, Jr.

Hard to think of it as a "coalition" since both agree on virtually eveything. One of the coalition partners is so submissive to the other, you have to wonder what is the need for coalition at all?
