Union Officer in So Cal takes UPS buyout

Another union leader exposed for taking the UPS buyout. There were plenty of business agents that took it, but this is the first Secretary Treasurer to be exposed out of Southern California. He is the ST for local 186

The Principal Officer should fire the man. That is unacceptable. Especially if the union is fighting the buyouts. Simply pathetic if true.

The union fought it at first, then O'Brien negotiated the deal.

Don’t forget about all the local 63 union reps that took it. They are just as bad.

Not much you can do to the members but O’Brien can definitely require the union reps and leadership who took the buy out to resign. How can a principal officer sleep at night.

Same as they slept at night when they shoved that bad contract up our rears in 2013-14.

This shit is going on across the country. Officers who never intend to return to UPS taking the buyouts in front of UPS rank and filers. Way to go you OZHOLES.

Don't forget, the union opposed the buyout when it was announced. Said it was illegal. Grievances were filed and virtually all the officers were against it. Then SOB swoops in and negotiates a 7,500 member limit and signaled it was OK for officers to get on the list, even though they had been threatened with charges before. All this during the time they were getting Delegate endorsements from mostly officers. Don't think SOB is going to discipline officers that took the buyout when they only used the agreement he negotiated.

All excellent points, and the buyouts were never ratified y the UPS bargaining unit members.

The ST of 186 is no where to be found. Since being exposed for taking the UPS buyout, he hasn’t showed his face in any of his UPS hubs. He claims to be one of the strongest Teamsters in the West but how does he explain himself out of this one. Doesn’t Local 186 have an election this year? Time for him to fully retire

He loves making videos of himself, maybe he can make one explaining why he needs the money more than some poor member working in the heat and cold.
