I despise SOB. I have the highest amount of respect for Brother Ron Carey. (Though the statement in the article with respect to Ron is partial and intentionally misleading regarding Ron's lack of "guilt"). I have frustrated feelings about TDU. I have mixed feelings about the GEB members. I feel that Hooker is a good guy and well-intended...yet I believe that he has only himself to blame for his inexcusable failure at the convention. All that said, this article by Joe Allen, is woefully lacking throughout, is slanted, and is designed to have the effect of a lie. In the case of Teamsters' history, the truth is effective enough when pointing to failures. This is typical of other pieces by Allen.

Who tried to keep him off the ballot? Hooker didn't even campaign. Didn't show for numerous Teamster events. Never even campaigned in his own buildings. NOTHING. Nobody I worked with even knew he was running for higher office.
