I have heard a lot of officers who are still employed at UPS while in office are taking the buyout and are still working at the hall. Guess O’Brien really made a good deal for them. Imagine someone not in danger of being layed off is taking a spot of a worker who is about to be out of a job.
Seems really unfair.

This was some interesting stuff and certainly something regarding officers I hadn't thought about. One thing I would take issue with is on the impact of officers taking the buyout, every one that takes the buyout prevents a layoff right? It doesn't matter if their an officer or not. An officer taking it does prevent an active member from having the buyout available to them.
Not surprised that nine officers and BA's from Local 63 are taking it, none of them would pass up a dollar.

So you saying an officer taking the $150,000 in addition to still working at the hall would actually be “helping “ members by preventing layoff ? Now that is noble of them! That’s a spin worthy of Berlin Rosen , the Public Relation firm O’Brien hires.

I don't remember saying it was noble of any officer taking the $150,000. UPS is downsizing "x" number of people on the seniority list. If someone on the list takes the buyout one less person gets laid off. Thats just a fact, and whether you or anyone else think officers don't qualify they do.
