Negotiation might have been a better strategy for the IBT as well.

The deadline for expressing interest in accepting the UPS buyout offer in 710 is midnight tonight? Is that the case throughout the national UPS bargaining unit? will the International make the number of interested members available to the rank and file?

if UPS is willing to spend $150,000 paid to each of 105,000 members, who could not argue that it’s being offered to subvert the contract UPS agreed to?

And what precedent might be set by giant UPS unilaterally buying out the seniority rights with such an offer? The Union is the exclusive bargaining agent for the members.

All this windfall money could go into increasing the Employer’s pension fund contributions for every unit member covered by the National Agreement.
