If this is true I bet Campos now gets a seat by the window at the next GEB meeting , probably right next to Palmer!

You are assuming that O’Brien will even let him in the room!

Maybe Campos has developed a backbone, local officers are being threatened, oppose the buyout or else.

Personally, I believe the buyouts should be opposed, especially by an elected IBT VP. UPS is violating the CBA and the NLRA. Allowing this unilateral implementation of benefits without an agreement by the IBT bargaining committee and secret ballot ratification by the entire UPS bargaining unit members in good standing, potentially opens the door for more mid-contract unilateral changes that could be implemented by UPS.

I recognize how this view may not be popular with many that want this opportunity. UPS would not be engaging in this unilateral implementation of retirement buyouts unless it would undermine terms of the CBA that the rank and file ratified, and subsequently was signed by UPS and the Union. However, I also recognize that the UPS contract was sold by OZ as being "historic" and "the richest collective bargaining agreement in US labor history" (O'Brien). That spin is BS and untruthful - what constitutes "historic" and "richest"? O'Brien is on record stating that the CBA would protect members against automation.

I see this as UPS trying to 1) subvert the terms of the contract they signed; and 2) an attempt to cause division among UPS employed members - those that opt for the buyout, and those that pass it up because it's not been bargained nor ratified by the Union.

A strong message must be heard by UPS that Teamster members' jobs and seniority, and unity of members' contractual rights are not for sale. As a Union, we bargain collectively; as the slogan states: "UNITED WE BARGAIN - DIVIDED WE BEG!"
