If our Union is going to invest political capital regarding overtime pay, I believe it should start with advocating revising the Fair Labor Standards Act that excludes interstate driving work from paying time and one half after 40 hours of work weekly. The problems with the US tax system is that the wealthy don't pay their fair share of taxes. Most Teamster contracts I've worked under pay time and one half after 8 hours worked per day. But that's not the case with many road drivers working interstate, whether it's a union or non-union job.

Personally, I have no issue paying my fair share of taxes. But the inequity of the wealthy not paying taxes on a progressive basis, especially with Trump's "Big beautiful bill" is what gets me. For our Union to position itself by allying with the economic policies of tax and benefit cutting politicians is, I believe, against our interests as a Union and against the interests of workers generally.

Trump's economic policies are designed to benefit corporations and their CEO's at the expense of slashing benefits for the working poor, the disabled, veterans, elderly, and the vast majority of Americans generally.

How in the world would we vote to make a draft dodger commander and chief? None of this bodes well for the future there is no historical precedent for successful regime change using only air and naval assets. This is what happens when you hire or vote for a clueless moron. God bless our veterans. F*%k Trump.
