    Organizers Demand Recognition

I was told the Organizers at the International sent Mr. Magoo and moron Chris that runs the Organizing a letter demanding recognition. It will be interesting to see how they respond.

My guess they'll buy a few folks off, fire a couple, scare a lot more, delay a vote and hire a union buster.

Sounds like a typical employer. Remember the management group at the IBT has learned ALL the tricks that A-B, ABF, UPS and Sysco etc have used for decades. Union mgnt is not above shutting down any organizing they don't happen to like. Ask our former drivers at XPO, 10 Roads, DHL contractors, some smaller breweries, and a whole host of airline industry employers! They learned from the best (worst).

Here's a thought ORGANIZE ROADIE 200,000 non union package delivery drivers that work for UPS. How about that, then the international wouldn't have to lie about the fact that the Teamsters are shrinking and other unions are growing. Just a thought now I'll go back to waiting for my layoff notice.

WTF891. He forced a few organizers that worked on some various things in J.C. 73 out.

It appears the organizers demand for recognition was not agreed to by the IBT. The link is to the RC filing for 64 organizers petitioning for a Representational Election.

All workers covered by the NLRA have a right to organize including the right to demand recognition from their Employer. Demanding recognition is a great strategy; it puts the unit members on record as supporting their fight for a Union; it has been used in very recent Teamster organizing drives; it's lauded by TDU on the TDU website. If, as OT+ surmises, the IBT has refused to recognize an appropriate bargaining unit that has filed an RC petition, how will OZ justify that refusal?
Should be interesting. Maybe O'Brien will attempt to justify such refusal, by taking tips from his friend Kristy Noem. His proud selfie photo with her seems to show he's a fan of hers.

The real union busters are the IBT's favorite union busting law firm Nixon Peabody. They've sucked up millions of dollars from the IBT since O'Brien took office. Keeping employers "union free" is their specialty. TDU should do a feature story on it.... yeah right!

Didn’t Nixon Peabody get hired to sue this website? Aren’t they the ones who made them change the name from Teamster Link?

They better put their big boy pants on. Apply your craft because the Leprichaun hath no mercy. There will be firings, there will be rats, there will be defectors, and then you will have as much luck getting a contract as the Teamsters and Amazon. Good luck don't be half steppin' otherwise you're getting crushed.

Spot on! Even Ron Carey's administration retaliated to some degree when the organizers had begun a campaign. It's typical of most unions to do that. At that time Bob Muelenkamp was the Organizing Director. Previously held that same position with SEIU. SEIU is notoriously guilty of using busting tactics against organizers at both the International level as well as with Locals. I was told by a Local 1199 manager that they would dispatch management staff with certain assignments just as in a private sector boss's campaign. I worked for a CT State Employees Local, 2001 while we had a campaign of the our staff. I led that campaign. We demanded recognition. The Local's Director was furious with me. We eventually were recognized. Later on, I was told secretly of the Local's plans to "make (me) pay for forming a union". Not sure what level the IBT organizers campaign might be at. But, yup. Better have some big boy pants on. Hope that they anticipated it and planned for it.
