Right, now their concerned, now it's an issue. It was an issue in the last contract along with the entire private vehicle scam. It should have been dealt with then, it's not new. So what's the plan now? It's an entirely non-union delivery system ready to scab.

Law 360 reports that Chicago Local 705 has filed a suit in Federal Court alleging UPS is syphoning work from 705 members to non-union Roadie a delivery company which is owned by UPS.

Biden’s appointed NLRB board issue a ruling on “Joint Employers” that was favorable to unions, especially Amazon organizing. This Joint Employer rule would have also held UPS accountable. SOB continues to complain that because the Dems do nothing for labor, he supports Trump, pushed for a new Secretary of Labor that backed off the rule even before her confirmation. Then, apparently to stroke O’Briens ego, the new U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer was invited to the 2025 Teamsters Unity Conference, where she delivered a major speech. She was the first Secretary of Labor to address the conference, which was attended by over 1,700 members.

Wonder how much she talked about her support for “Right to Work” and the “Joint Employer” rule?

I know Chicago UPS is different than national, but I'd like to know what contract language or law Local 705 is relying on for this lawsuit. Every one knew about Roadie in the last negotiations for the "historic contract", it should have been dealt with then. This suit smells like an effort to make it look like something is being done, all show for the next election

Why are we or ANY teamster surprised?!
UPS has been using the same game plan for decades! Agree in writing to our demands at contract time and then just ignore the provisions and force us into court or into arbitration. I see all these posts of locals bragging about grievances being paid! It’s more bull shit, UPS willingly pays out that money ,they have for years , because they make more money violating the contract, if they didn’t they would stop. It’s that simple, it’s profitable paying the grievance as opposed to following the contract , if it wasn’t so they would stop.
O’Brien and Oz get to make historical claims of victory making them pay! Or they get to make historical OUTRAGE statements about what the company is doing , claiming they will make them pay!
IT IS A “ WINK AND A NOD” between Obrein and Tome. They both get what they want , She gets her profits and He gets to look tough and in control.

THAT IS THE HISTORICAL HISTORY WITH UPS.

And maybe some drinking too Dr. P! The head of the division and their head of labor are usually pretty cozy. Been that way since they put a master agreement together 50 years ago. Their goal is to reduce the membership to 200 K. Go try to organize a bunch of folks who are driving their own cars and trucks. 2 check system. O/Os take a lot of work to find, organize and, especially, represent.

The NMA was first created in 1979 and done so to shut down the militant locals that constantly struck!

I remember back when New York used to walk out at the drop of a dime. Carey used to pull the job in 804 whenever the company did something stupid.
