"Teamster Boss Blasts Dems" (yet again)

Sean O’Brien explained that he believes the Democratic Party has abandoned working Americans by serving special interests.

As much as I hate to admit it. I totally agree with Mr. Magoo.

O'Brien says, "“Look, this whole election for the Democrats was based on social justice issues, right?"

Nope. Not true. But that was the MAGA (lying) talking point.

What a bullshit artist. That's deflection. Whether or not you agree with SOB with respect to the Democrat party...it's deflection. He doesn't disagree with the Republican party when it comes to union and/or labor issues? He refuses to speak out against a viciously anti-union POTUS. This bullshitter is so transparent and only concerned with his own ego and publicity.

Fear of retaliation and no other choice since there is no serious opposition. Any campaign against Oz should have started right after the failure of the UPS contract became evident.

O'Brien likes to replay his version of the Harris GEB meeting and the right wing media loves to hear it as further proof that the republicans are better for workers. They like to hear it from a traitor to the cause and O'Brien likes to tell the story because he gets more attention. The fact is after that meeting every Local officer, Joint Council officer and Rank & File member that was present quickly went home and had their union endorse Harris.

The election is long since over and we're just now beginning to see the results. There is no positive result for the union to continue to tell this story and alienate the party that obviously is better for unions. The easiest example is the fact that the Demorats saved Teamster pensions, including the severly mismanaged New England Fund chaired by O'Brien, and they did it without one Republican vote. Continuing to relive the Harris GEB meeting and trashing the Dems helps the Teamsters how? It doesn't. O'Brien is performing to an audience of one in the hopes of some personal payoff. He could give a fuck about the damage to the union.

Too bad SOB can't remember that Labor Unions used to be considered a "special interest" by the Republican Party which routinely ripped the Democrats for being too beholden to them. Doubters can easily look up the Nixon and Reagan and Bush and Trump I statements on the issue. As for Democrats being too concerned about social issues, does he consider everything outside the pages of a collective bargaining agreement to be a social issue not worth the IBT's interest. He's supporting the Trump attack on minimum wages, overtime, child labor restrictions, equity, etc. because the Democrats promote these issues, or because the small percentage of the workforce that has a Teamster contract does not rely on the federal government for these minimal protections! Two quick points. How long do you think corporations will be signing contracts requiring them to pay for these protections if the Trump administration doesn't require the non-union corporations to incur the costs to provide at least a floor of comparable benefits? And think what additional benefits could be bought by union negotiators if there was government funded H&W. How much money in the collective bargaining package now devoted to health insurance could be freed up to create new jobs, buy air-conditioned vehicles, improve safety, etc. if health care was acknowledged as a human right guaranteed by the government. But Republicans and apparently SOB disparage Democrats for protecting Medicare and Medicaid, a "special interest social issue," or urging its expansion, even worse! The current leadership should look at the Preamble to the IBT Constitution and see what the Union once stood for.

Exactly and bargaining for H&W just got more expensive and a bigger chunk of the pie. Cuts to medicaid and medicare will mean busier emergency rooms, increasing the overall cost of medical care. We've been here before.

You agree? With everything he has done against labor? You should go into mangement if you do.
