Local 763, a glimmer of hope in a Teamsters Union adrift under the lack of O’Brien’s, Zuckerman’s, and most of the GEB’s leadership. Any hope of O’Brien’s claim that his love fest with Trump will result in the Republican Party being the party of the working class has long ago evaporated. In a recent interview, TDU’s softball questions and VP Erickson’s answers were painfully absent of any the real issues facing unions/workers raised in Local 763’s Resolution.

In that interview VP Erickson states “President Sean O’Brien and Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman have set a totally different tone. It’s about taking militant action and fighting back for the members.” Then when asked about the spread of technology, states “As a union, we haven’t prioritized winning this language in over 20 years.” claiming “Now it expected”

In my opinion, practice pickets and the inability to achieve strong technology language in the union’s largest unit, UPS, is not “…militant action and fighting back for the members.” Perhaps TDU should have asked any of the 1,000’s of laid off workers.

Will other Locals adopt 763’s Resolution? Doubtful given the mergers, increase of the IBT’s payroll and the track record of O’Brien's retaliation.

There are dozens of Teamster Locals with large numbers of immigrant members. Tyson in Texas is about to go on strike, most of the workers are immigrants, what happens when ICE decides to get involved?
