SO has failed. We knew though. He was never a reformer. The Teamsters need a purging. We need leaders who are dedicated to really fighting for workers and their families. Hope to see someone while I'm still alive

Well...purging? I dunno. I've seen leaders (some, few, but some) get elected to the GEB (leaders) that were well intended. However, within those few there were even fewer that didn't end up prostituting themselves to the General Presidents that were not "right" for the job. As SOB is not right for the job he holds his GEB and Local Officers, responsible with the fear of retaliation. I've watched it for decades. We need a GP that holds GEB members responsible (as well as rewards) for the "right" reasons.

I don’t know him but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
He seems to be correct in this post.

Edgar needs to be careful cuz SOB Jr. might comment so tough guy language and say "You won't say that to my face."

Yeah, I’ve seen O’Brien get tough! He got tough when he threatened members on video! He got tough when he had his red Hoffa vest on at the conventions….wait , that was tough against members also…….Hey! He did get tough against that senator! Then chickened out when the senator got tough and challenged him.

Gimliboston9 Directline was referencing O’Brien’s son defending his dad by telling someone they wouldn’t say that to his dad’s face. We all know just how tough his dad is! He has had corporate America shaking in their boots! All those practice pickets and that Amazon strike really has them on the run. Bet all the laid off UPS members feel the toughness of that historic contract! Real tough guys don’t have to talk tough they do it with actions.

Don’t you mean “them on their knees”. He did have Corporate America shaking cuz he put his helmet on, strapped that chin strap and told them that it is a full contact sport.

It's issues such as Edgar's that are much more likely to resonate with our members. Much more so than "skewed numbers, fired staff, lawsuit, discrimination, boot licker, TDU coalition", etc. I am not suggesting that anyone should not have their own thoughts with respect to those mentioned. I AM SAYING that if anyone communicates for the purpose of eroding support and exposing SOB that they stick closer to workers' issues that resonate. Taylored issues. Organizing 101: Don't tell voters what they should vote for. Listen to the voters and let them tell you what they want. That's beginner shit right there.

I really don't think anyone's suggesting that "skewed numbers, fired staff, lawsuit, discrimination, boot licker, TDU coalition, etc"are issues that will win elections. There's plenty of inside baseball and details that leaders, i.e. officers and activists, use to help them make decisions. Leaders are more likely to understand the significance of cut-backs at the NLRB, for example than R&F members. Things like "skewed numbers, fired staff, lawsuit, discrimination, boot licker, TDU coalition, etc", should be important to all leaders, particularly those that want an honest democratic union that doesn't accept gaslighting as fact.

I understand and agree with you and Nickjamesup. We are simply talking about two different audiences. If the only members that sign into this site are leaders or potential leaders then have at it. Now, I gotta say, I've seen plenty of leaders take part in campaigning that don't understand basic organizing. Some, in fact, where terrible at framing messages. Well intended folks. Just wrong in their efforts to effectively communicate. My comment wasn't meant to be personal. Keep the comment in mind or don't.

Nights has hit the nail on the head! It’s the leaders in this union who need to stand up to these issues. There are far too many who cower to O’Brien in fear of Retaliation. Perhaps rightfully so, yet if there are leaders out there like Palmer and Hooker who openly speak out against the silence in the face of anti labor actions taken by this administration there maybe hope. Other leaders who know better should join in a movement to inform the members of what’s really going on. The silence of these leaders who sit back in fear is allowing O’Brien to continue on his way to being a puppet of Trump. For these officers and for TDU to remain silent is a disservice to the American labor movement.

Your comments have zero relevance to the topic.
Seems like if you can’t argue the theme you resort to personal attacks.

Maybe so that you guys blindly follow one A knucklehead that runs his mouth, but never will talk to anybody face-to-face. It’s kind of embarrassing. He leads a circle jerk of about 20 guys. That are pretty much the same way. Zero involvement in their local their only involvement is that they come here or other places and talk. Well right type whatever they do.
