Teamsters...voting against own self interest

The false claims would not be used for political advantage if Trump followers were not driven by hate-filled emotions. Many who are white evangelicals claim to be drawn to him because of his policies despite Trump being a man who stirs up racial hate and division which contradicts their Biblical teaching. Union members tend to be the opposite. Trump’s policies are anti-union, yet many union members are still drawn to the candidate of hate.
This guy is wrong. Since his article is from Philadelphia, he must have read this from the Inquirer.

A majority of people that were polled are voting for Trump. The numbers aren't even close. Not a fan of O'Brien but facts are facts.Comment

It should be obvious by now that union Trump supporters do not rank survival of our union(s) or improvements for the working class at the top of their “reason to vote for” list. The anti-union/worker candidate’s track record and “Project 2025” plans to eliminate unions by the Republican party are easily available to anyone with internet access.
Apparently, also low on their “reasons to vote for” list is “Character” as the tendency is to overlook their presidential candidate’s “Liable for sexual abuse”-$5 M, Continued defamation-$85 M, “Swindling students”-$25 M settlement, “Fraudulent business practices”- $354 M, “Possession of classified documents”, "Attacks on democracy and workers in blue" (Jan 6), he did not “save” jobs in Lordstown-Ohio, Mexico “did not” pay for the wall” and bleach “was not” the answer to covid.
It has been my experience that supporters of the anti-union/worker candidate rely on dismissing, denying, ignoring, unable or unwilling to accept, providing alternative sets of facts, the deep state, claims of fake or news articles talking points to justify their position. Believing their leader has absolute authority and should not be held accountable because the ends justify the means.
The proof is in the posts! One example is “Position of classified documents.” When I raised the issue, a union Trump supporter with a “Top Secret Security Clearance” responds, he (Trump) “added a padlock to the room.” In reality, 3 pages of posts with dates and events provided facts why Trump was charged with:- 31 counts of willful retention of classified documents
- 1 count of conspiracy to obstruct justice
- 1 count of withholding a document or record
- 1 count of corruptly concealing a document or record
- 1 count of concealing a document in a federal investigation
- 1 count of scheme to conceal
- 1 count of making false statements and representations
Exactly what is the motivation of union members to vote against their own interest? Immigration?
Why is Trump able to go to the U.S. border with Mexico and rail about a crisis? Because he made sure there was a crisis to rail about.
Earlier this year, Republicans in the U.S. Senate bowed to Trump’s demands and killed a bipartisan security bill introduced by Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma and Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut. Trump even bragged about killing the border security package, saying, “I think we killed it. I think it’s dead! But you can never say it because bad bills always come back to life because these guys make a lot of money with bad bills.”
How do supporters justify complaining about illegal immigration, then support the very person that killed the deal? By buying into worst bill ever? Did the candidate offer a better deal? Any deal? NO, just lies and lies to motivate voters!
More Than Half of Trump Voters Believe Haitians Are Eating Pets. The candidate continues to double down on Springfield, Ohio, even as his VP pick states “it’s possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false.”
Continued support for the anti-union/anti-worker candidate for any reason is their right. Just as it is my right to find their complaints weak, very weak.
Not a fan of the anti-union/anti worker candidates because facts are facts.

Yes, you are right, I made a comparison from Trump to Biden. You talked about classified documents being strewn throughout his residence which is not true. The FBI laid them out and photographed them. It's a stark comparison to what Biden had going on at his beach house where his crackhead son lived and had access to documents that were laying in open boxes. Yes, the FBI did visit Mar A Lago and made a request for a more secure lock on the door where his were stored, then they raided his residence soon after. So, your secure document claim doesn't hold water.
What are you trying to imply about a "Crisis" at the border? There is undoubtably a crisis and it was created by the Democrat party. Donald Trump started the construction of a wall and made that his strong point in his campaign in 2016. The Democrats continued to attack such a plan and now think it is a grand idea to "secure the border". Wasn't it "shut up racist" when talking about the border? Now what is it? Trump created the problem?
The Republicans killed a bill to fund and further war in the Middle East, not border security. Border security has always been the top priority and the Democrats now all the sudden think it should be done. What about all the proposals the Democrats shot down? Did you forget about when Trump used his emergency authority to continue the construction of a border structure?

And yes, I do/did have a top secret security clearance and yes I did score VERY high in the placement test. The recruiter told me that it was the highest score he had ever seen. What about it? It means that I was entrusted with documents and secure devices. I didn't leave them laying around for a crackhead and his prostitutes to possess. That's punishable under the articles of the UCMJ. I don't have the privilege of being a Biden or a Clinton. Didn't the courts rule Joe Biden was too old and senile to stand trial for his malpractice?

What would have happened if the Teamsters leadership, knowing that the majority of its members were Republicans, decided to oppose Butch-Lewis, and let the Central States and other pensions fail? Sometimes leaders need to lead, just like sometimes I need to listen to my doctor's advice, since I'm not an expert on all things under the sun.Comment

Point well taken. The union should not pinch the taxpayer when they fail. If we do, we know there will be stipulations that come with it. We need to learn why they are failing and stop listening to union leaders who say that it is the decrease in membership as for the reasons it can't sustain. Let's not forget that the consent decree had Goldman Sachs running the Central states in to the ground when the stock markets saw gains fivefold from it's implementation.

DanaCos - You are my brother, but don't forget a lot of the pension promises were broken by companies who failed in their commitments to the pension plans they agreed to, and then sought bankruptcy protection (and gave millions to their management teams on the way out the door). The laws should protect the retirees first, and not the corporate thieves who raided our funds we all worked so hard for. I have no sympathy for the devil, and contracts/promises should not be broken. Butch-Lewis was a soft-measure, at helping the workers, but should have gotten to the root-problem. Goldman Sach, corportate greed, dirty politicians, and slobs like Trump, who has proven to hate the collective power of workers standing up for their rights.Comment

Right - we are not a classless society, and I respect your opinions and ability to see the pros of the PRO Act as well as limits to the ACA. As for socialism, my question is what is it really? The term is tossed around, but it's really a question of who the government should press its thumb for? The people, corporations or a mix of both? We are a mix: think of all the government programs that corporations get in aid: a world-class infrastructure, stability both from foreign and domestic enemies, aid to farmers (who couldn't compete otherwise), a stable financial system and a stable dollar and strong banks and access to capital, anti-trust protections, patent protections, FEMA for hurricaine victims (I don't live in a flood area, but I want my dollars to help out), free secondary education for educated workers; I could go on all day. We live in a very complex society, and we need regulations and laws to prerevent a true dog-eat-dog society. -
Great points. What is in an "ISM"? You can use many to describe an ideal. Like you have said, our taxes should fund things that benefit us whether directly or not. Like infrastructure and emergency services. Government is well served to fund such operations. I would say that I am more of a Minarchist in that regard. I will never be popular in saying that our welfare system has hampered our efforts to grow as a union. In order to expand we need to give people the desire to be union and not decentivize.

So, where did you copy and paste all this from?

Your statement, “You talked about classified documents being strewn throughout his residence”, I did not say that.
What I did say was (Cut & Paste from Post) “It has been my experience that supporters of the anti-union/worker candidate rely on dismissing, denying, ignoring, unable or unwilling to accept, providing alternative sets of facts, the deep state, claims of fake or news articles talking points to justify their position. Believing their leader has absolute authority and should not be held accountable because the ends justify the means.”
The point of the post, in addition to responding to your comments, was twofold,- Draw attention that as union members we enjoy better wages, H & W, job protections, pensions, ability to enforce safety practices, grievance procedures, just cause, seniority, etc. so why would union members support the anti-union/anti-worker candidate and his party’s plan to attack and destroy our rights?
- To shine a light on the wedge your candidate uses to pit worker against worker by blaming the influx of illegal immigration at the same time calling for the Border Security Bill to fail.
I understand illegal immigration negatively impacts aspects of our lives. Your example of residential construction was spot on. What I am saying (Not a Cut and Paste) had your candidate actually wanted to move toward a solution on this issue, calling for the defeat the Border Security Bill, only to make it an issue in the election, doubling down on events in Springfield, Ohio, as his VP pick states (This is a Cut and Paste) “it’s possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false.” in my opinion, is not presidential or VP material or in any way a positive for unions/working class. People (workers) are not pawns to be used to further one’s political hopes.
Your comment (This is a Cut & Paste from Post) “The Republicans killed a bill to fund and further war in the Middle East, not border security.” Is not accurate. Aid for Ukraine and Israel(Middle East) were included in the Boarder Bill blocked by Senate Republicans. Perhaps you should consider another news source.
Also, to be clear, your candidate said, (Cut & Paste) ‘I think it’s dead’ Trump praises collapse of bipartisan border deal. I guess I shouldn’t believe my lying ears.
The point of all this is, (Mixed, my words-cut and paste for verification of position)- Your candidate and his VP pick stands against the PRO Act, while supporting the anti-union/worker “Project 2025.”
- Did not support or pass the Butch Lewis Act. The Dems did, with the American Rescue Plan that will ultimately stop cuts to the retirement benefits of approximately 2 million workers and retirees.
- Instead, your candidate’s job one was “The 2017 Trump Tax Law Was Skewed to the Rich” .
- Your candidate spent four years in office weakening unions/working class rights with his Labor Board appointments.
- Continues to complain about “Illegal Immigration” after making sure the Border Security Bill fail.
What I am saying, it is a War on Workers (Song by Anne Feeney) and wondering Which Side Are You On? (Song by Arlo Guthrie).True then, still true today.
Thanks for the photo of the “Basket” containing Top Secret documents found in Biden’s garage! I noticed a dead bolt on the door you circled. Not saying he used it, just saying it was there. It should be noted that there is a difference between Biden’s cooperation VS (Cut and Paste)Trump’s;- 31 counts of willful retention of classified document
- 1 count of conspiracy to obstruct justice
- 1 count of withholding a document or record
- 1 count of corruptly concealing a document or record
- 1 count of concealing a document in a federal investigation
- 1 count of scheme to conceal
- 1 count of making false statements and representations
You posted (Cut and Paste) “… (Found at Biden’s) “beach house where his crackhead son lived and had access to documents that were laying in open boxes.” Are you saying you have some evidence that Hunter did something illegal? Or is this another baseless accusation motivated by your hatred for anyone or a family member with a “D” next to their name?
I have included 3 photos of the (I lost count at-80 +) boxes of Top Secret documents discovered at Mar-a-Logo. How many do you count? I find it odd that with overwhelming evidence, a “Security Clearance”, you still tend to dismiss, deny, ignore, unable or unwilling to accept, providing alternative sets of facts, the deep state, claims of fake or news articles talking points to justify your support for a national security threat.
NEWS FLASH (This is a cut and paste) Yesterday, 10/2/2024
Jack Smith’s unsealed court filing that says Trump ‘resorted to crimes’ after 2020 election. I know, more fake news, deep state, right?
