When You Lose Labor Notes Will TDU be Next?

Teamsters President Sean O’Brien spoke at Trump’s Republican National Convention on Monday. This was a bad move. Much of the speech would have been fine if he had delivered it somewhere else. O’Brien railed against corporate greed, singling out Amazon and the private equity vultures that killed Yellow Freight. He called for stronger labor laws. Nobody says that stuff at the Republican convention, so some unionists were pleased to hear righteous themes reach a new audience. But it almost didn’t matter what he said—the far louder message was where he said it.

I must say, this is the first honest, well thought out article I have seen from Labor Notes in maybe, forever! Got to give credit where credit is due!

I think the real crime here is the tie. Who was like...go with the pink one?

Pink is fine! This particular tie is tacky, though.

          TDU response to O'Brien Criticism

I worked hard to elect Sean O’Brien. He is the right president for the Teamsters union. Donald Trump is the wrong president for my country—and I will work like hell to defeat him. Labor Notes has chronicled our union’s new militancy, including the UPS contract campaign, aggressive strike action, organizing at Amazon, and more. A Trump victory imperils all of it. In 2020, I was on the verge of losing my pension. Every single Republican Senator opposed the Butch Lewis Emergency Pension Relief Act.

Keep polishig that TURD. Typical TURDwashing from the Paff apologist regime. There is a point where credibility does not exist. We have been there for a while.

This article was published by labor notes , where by the way Ken Paff sits on its board , it is allegedly authored by Dan Campbell. Campbell is a good soldier for Paff , who I am sure at the very least approved this article coincidentally published one day after Labor Notes published their own piece on the RNC appearance. Campbell While condemning Trump for his anti labor history it carefully neglects to mention the responsibility on TDU’s part for creating this situation. TDU endorsed and supported O’Brien knowing full well who and what he was! They in the past published numerous negative articles about the man they named “ the Boston bully “. TDU legitimized O’Brien to the reform element of our union just as O’Brien has legitimized Trump to our union. He has legitimized the most anti labor candidate to ever run for president. He ( O’Brien) only did so with the aid of TDU. TDU has not written about or even mentioned the real record of O’Brien’s presidency the lawsuits, the discrimination cases, the false reports, the hiring of anti union law firms, the posting of images of a man holding a gun to a woman's head by O’Brien. The list goes on and on. TDU needs to take ownership of this and not try to soften the real story of Trump/O’Brien.

How can TDU and Campbell pretend they didn’t have a direct connection with creating this situation? How about a response? Where are the TDU members who have the balls to call BS on O’Brien? Time to admit O’Brien was not the way to go.
