Dear Fellow Teamsters,
I'm outraged by our union leadership's silence on the automation of Swan Island, which is set to shut down for renovation in March 2025. This move, part of UPS’s so-called "Network of the Future," leaves us unprotected under our current contract, with no safeguards against AI and automation.
Where is our fightback? Teamsters President Sean O’Brien talks a big game about protecting us from automation, but where’s the action? UPS CEO Carol Tomé admits to these closures and renovations for efficiency, but what about our jobs?
This erosion of worker power and the union bureaucracy's complicity is unacceptable. We need immediate action.
In solidarity and anger,
Tony Cochran
