Isn’t Perrone Eastern Region UPS director? He has 30 years with UPS and he is surprised at their indifference to our members? Didn’t he just negotiate this historic contract? Was there no discussion of automation?
It's called a "Historic Contract" Vinny! Stop whining about what you agreed to. Just like here at 623. We had full-time members working 3.5 hours a day at Oregon Ave. while part timers weren't affected. It was said it was in the contract. They brought them to PHL during peak full-time then sent them back to Oregon Ave at the same 3.5 hours a day. People's mortgages weren't getting paid and car notes got put on the back burner. These people settled the grievance the first time during the peak season. They still didn't get back pay. They settled another one and who knows when they will get paid.
Who negotiated the supplements or at least had a voice in them? Ask the Principal Officers of every local who got stung! This whole automation thing was known since at least 2017. The union didn't object to all this. There is no one else to blame. The company even admits they made sure the contract was ironclad in order to stick it the Teamsters. It's called incompetence.
HEY VINNY! Tell everyone the story about your hands in the fish tank when Sean O'Brien called. Classic.
It doesn’t matter , this does nothing and he endorsed this contract that allows the company to use the technology to eliminate positions . If that’s not true then explain that to the members displaced and laid off

Was there no discussion? Sure was. 2017 before the last contract in 2018 and 2023 after this contract was signed and delivered.
The technology language was one of the first TA's in the new contract. We were told AI and Robotics had been stopped now work is being diverted. Peronne was at the table if we didn't get protections we needed he should have been a no vote. He attacked anyone opposed to the contract and now the company was given five years to cut jobs. Letters like this are weak and accomplish nothing.
lol this fool — but Ben Vedus said ITOC’s rank and file petition against mass layoffs shift closures was worthless; I guess Perrone’s letter will be more effective!

His strange letter is much like his other attempts at sarcasm, his cartoon posts of management people, his childish and unprofessional name calling while he is immune from retaliation yet the members are left to fend for themselves. He is modeling himself in the same persona of who he has called “ the greatest general president “ the teamsters ever had. I’m sorry , which local is he from?

Exactly. When I first met him, we had a discussion and I told him I refused to support their slate because it had all the people I exposed on it. Then he went straight in to a fish tank story. I gave him a pass. I normally would have a camera in his face. I told him that he was the last I suspected to join such a slate but then again when the Vote No Movement got it's start, he never said a word about voting no. Just posted pictures (painted fingernails etc.) and about how much he hated management. After our discussion, he went on to tell people how much of a lunatic I am. I will give him some credit. He did come out against signing an NDA.
At the least the petition put pressure on the local and yes they did feel the heat and got some people back by telling management to shorten hours in twilight! The petition was never the point as Tony has said, it was a statement of a position from the members who have been betrayed by leadership and want more, and it’s been good at getting information out about the layoffs and getting people involved. Not sure what Perrone’s letter will do
Pretty sure Carol chuckled at that letter or one of her assistants deleted it.. lol he thinks he’s a big shot ???
She should take him up on his offer to go to Maspeth. She can explain to the members that the contract Perrone recommended will result in the loss of one out of three jobs to robots at UPS. Historic fail.
Wonder if he will act like Mr Tough guy and insult her like he does on Facebook ? . They diverted
Their own funds to make it look like they got the best contract ever and no language to protect jobs from automation. Historic indeed for a guy who makes 300k in total compensation
What bothers me most about this letter is its an attempt to take no responsiblity, from the guy leading negotiations for the union in the east. Less then a year ago he was at the table to deal with the quality of life and automation issues he's now talking about in his open letter. Why the rush to settle if these things were'nt taken care of? What's surprising is that he's writing a letter like this in the first place, hardly worthy of the Local of Ron Carey.
