    Are there any leaders left?

image.pngThis is another example of the total lack of leadership and guts of oz! Leadership of a Union has an obligation to advise the membership of the best candidate who will do the most for workers, or at least, not hurt them any worse, and explain why. This decision has to be 100% focused on the issues that directly affect workers and their ability to support their families, and retire in some comfort and dignity. oz shirks this responsibility by polling the few members who will turn out. They are simply putting their internal politics in front of what is right for the members. They are placating their right wing, skin head base, simply put! My prediction; they are planning to use this, at best, to say the results are inconclusive, or at worst to say trump was the member's choice. Total and complete cowardice and a run away from what they were elected to do...lead. what a travesty to allow these buffoons to undermine all of labor!

Well said ! We elected a fourth generation teamster to lead us, not to get all wish washy about what to do with a candidate who is pro right to work and blatantly anti union!

And (Trump) being an overt racist/fascist that cares only about himself; what else is there to figure out?
Theory: O’Brien’s. meeting in Mara Largo was to cut a deal with the Orange Turd. What does this symbolize with Teamster women and people of color? How is meeting in Mara Largo justified in any way? But, I’m not surprised. Trump and O’Brien are much alike.

Who will verify these town hall votes? So if you have a local where 40 people show up at a meeting out of a thousand members that’s how you will judge who the membership supports?

Yes and the people who always show up will and those who work 2nd jobs or use bus or train won’t because and so it will skew to the right-wing or whoever the favorites think Lyin likes which is Trump and he might get the endorsement! Ballots like these should be sent with home votes like contract one with explanation in the mailer

And a lie besides. Other administrations did it. The Nixon endorsement was blamed on the members!

So the GP asks all locals to get the opinion of their members and he’s an asshole. Or the GP doesn’t ask the opinion of the members and he’s an asshole.

Talk about being two-faced. It’s obvious some people on here are going to bash no matter what

I think the problem is that it’s not transparent how this thing is going to work because well the decision likely already made
We don’t even know what the candidates talked about in those meetings, what were the questions and answers? Like this ain’t educational it’s simply a joke

TheMilitantTeamster you should show up to your Local's meeting before you make assumptions.

We elect leaders to lead, with all the resources and collective knowledge and experiences amongst our leaders in the international why would you have to go to the membership to decide this? Leaders lead ! If a fourth generation teamster can’t see the right choice for labor here we need to look into what else is behind that curtain in Oz.

There are always disagreements amongst groups , differences of opinions, differences of beliefs. They can argue and fight about their differences but what negates their differences is a common adversary to both sides. What is a common adversary to the labor movement is a candidate who openly supports anti union policies. A candidate who has repeatly supported Right to work laws, a candidate who has proven to be an enemy of labor by his appointment to the labor board of known union busters . A candidate who through his personal business ventures has shown his disregard for employees and their representatives.
As union members we can disagree on many things but lending our support to such a candidate is unthinkable.

I find it odd that O’Brien and the GEB are willing to consider supporting a presidential candidate who is a convicted sex offender, who attempted to overthrow the government through violence, who is facing scores of felony charges at the local, state and federal level, and on and on and on. At the same time, they are willing to ban or suspend fellow Teamsters for simply talking to a banned member, a member who retains decades of information valuable to local, joint council and international business. Legitimizing Trump by giving him a forum (and a photo-op standing in front of a Teamster flag that keeps showing up on the nightly news), giving him a campaign contribution and abstaining during a NABTU endorsement vote for President Biden certainly brings reproach on our union. But, what would you expect from an organization that hired a Trump lawyer to “investigate” and prosecute its members (especially in JC7).

Voting to abstain at the NABTU is a complete embarrassment, particulalry when the other unions know Biden bailed out our pensions. Your right, the pictures of Trump in our lobby are shown all the time as if we've already endorsed the most anti-union president in history.

Are there any leaders left? No. What's happened to the GEB? It's not that they don't see whats happening other than Palmer no one says or does anything publicly. It's all politics and keeping your job is number one priority. So everyone defers to O'Brien, democracy is dead in the IBT.
