UPS is and has been the leading corporate sponsor of research and developement of autonomous vehicles, drone delivery and automated warehousing. Thats been true for years. No surprise that they intend to use as much of it as they can get away with in the next five years.

268 people laid off at Swan Island. Being offered jobs in Tacoma—3.5 hours drive away! No “bumping rights”— so they must wait for a position on another shift to open up— a hiring freeze on most shifts means that long term members are forced out. And Mark Davison our so-called President is doing NOTHING.

One more thing, this means that more and more of the labor will be done by new part-timers who have NO MRA protections and limited raises over 5 years ($2)

We have a postal plane coming back to help with work but the night hub looks bleak. They just walked people out tonight.

The whole night shift? Or major layoffs? Seems like UPS wants to run TWI and Preload to get CPUs and make deliveries and cut shifts. They are openly going after day shifts for complete nationwide elimination. It’s horrible. The loss of quality health care is devastating. We needed layoff protections in the 2023-28 CBA,
