    Ken Paff Email.....

    Subject: Behind the Pension Lies

    Behind the Pension Lies
There is a story spreading among some California UPS Teamsters that money is being diverted from the Western Conference fund to pay for other pensions, in the IBT-UPS plan or the New England plan and/or others. In the extreme version, the Western fund could even cut pensions.
It is a complete fiction, but some workers are understandably concerned about their pensions and are being bombarded by these tales, especially in Northern California.
    Where did it come from?
This claim isn’t new. Rome Aloise, who has been banned for life from the Teamsters Union for corruption and taking gifts from employers, has for over a decade spread this lie about the Western Conference pension fund being looted by TDU, Fred Zuckerman (in the 2016 campaign) or Sean O’Brien (in the 2021 campaign). Aloise is thankfully gone from our union, but his lie has been revived by his pals regarding the UPS contract tentative agreement.
It is especially unsavory to attack the fact that members in the IBT-UPS plan are getting overdue pension improvements in the UPS agreement, boosting the 30-and-out benchmark from $3800 per month to $4800. While still well below pension levels in the West, it’s a very positive achievement. TDU proudly initiated a petition campaign to call for this increase.
Basic solidarity calls for all Teamsters to support those pension improvements. The large IBT-UPS plan, which covers full-time UPSers in 22 states in the South and most of the Midwest, is not funded by money bargained in the contract. It is funded directly by UPS as needed and required by law.
Chuck Mack, the union chair of the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust, has addressed the pension situation with charts showing that UPS Teamsters in the west will gain pension accruals of about $300 per year, thus raising their pensions by $1500 per month over the five years of the contract.
Mark Davison factually addressed pension matters in the western report given via zoom last evening, which I would think will be available online. He discussed why the bargaining priority was to boost wages.
The Western fund is fully funded and will remain so every year, by policy. The fund includes over 200,000 active Teamsters, most of whom work for other Teamster-organized companies; many of them get pensions far less than UPS Teamsters get.
Two of those spreading the lies are Aloise followers who were defeated by challengers in recent local elections in Local 853 and Local 948. Their posts and video and speeches cite Aloise and refer to a dark conspiracy against Western pensions. Certain officials are spreading it behind the scenes.
A few of the bad actors are among the 18 officials who have been charged this year in March, May and July by the Independent Investigations Officer with facilitating and participating in Aloise’s corruption. As they await a hearing where they may be removed from office, are they spreading poison on their way out of the union?
Members should get informed and cast a vote. Bad actors spreading lies don't help the process.

The above was forwarded to me by a friend and apparently is being sent to certain UPS Teamsters in the West. Again Paff attacks the messenger and never honestly mentions that .50 that was given up on H&W and Pension. As usual he sets up straw men to knock down without any reference or concern about the actual contract language. Sounds a bit desperate here.

TDU/IBT talking around the fact that contributions are being diminished. TDU is no longer credible.

They are desperate. Members are finding lots of reasons to vote no. The fact that members are organizing around the Western pension contribution cut is completely unexpected. And now their pulling out all the stops even going so far as to tell all IBT staff to get on social media and support this dog. They've even had to bring Ken Paff out of retirement (along with Andy Marshall I guess) that is desperate.

Andy Marshall was at the Local 396 contract meeting. Feeder and drivers were pissed about the pension. They asked about the other .50 cents. If Locals 396 and 63 reject this TA. It is gonna speaks volumes.

Now that Kerwood is out, where is the rest of the IBT/TDU's steering commitee? We know where the non union staff of TDU/IBT is. How about a roll call from the active Teamsters on that committee. They can't all feel good about this.

It’s rare that Paff attaches his name to comments on social media (or in Teamster Voice, for that matter). But, of course, being the coward that he is, Paff has chosen to attack Aloise knowing that Aloise is prohibited from responding due to the ban by Paff’s friends at the IIO.

Aloise had nothing to do with the pension screw job, and deserves no mention in this matter. Shameless attempt to distract from the dimminishment of contributions to our pensions. When you can't prevail with facts you distract. The Rome Aloise issue is over and done no matter how you feel. The pension issue is alive and members have a right to be concerned.

Paff is late with this letter ! O’Brien’s cronies have been blaming Aloise for anything they can to distract from the contribution freeze . Yes I sad a contribution freeze because when you negotiate no contributions it equals a freeze. So mr. Paff you need a new line . Maybe you need Rainville or Levin to write one for you .

Ken Paff knows nothing about the Western Pension, his letter is a sad attempt to change the subject. Drivers all over the West are hearing about the $.50 per year contribution "concession" and they want it restored to the $1.00 that was in the last contract. This giveback was completely unnecessary, the people responsible need to fix it.

Pete Nunez is about to be kicked out of the pension for life for has sham contracts. He is trying to
                    help tank
this contract because he is about to possibly go to jail for this in the end. The DOL and the FBI already raided his local a month and a half ago. He’s done.

? What does this Nunez have to do with this topic ? Another attempt to change the subject ? We are getting .50 less then we have in the past! That is what we are talking about !
                      AND THAT’S CALLED A CONCESSION!

It seems that we have an IBT Troll among us, it's well known that Sean O'Brien has people who watch these forums very closely. JT67 seems to have been given the task of taking these threads off topic.

I applaud Peter Nunez for having the courage to tell the truth. I admire him for being an honest Whistleblower on the OZ corruption. Even Fred Zuckerman called Sean O'Brien corrupt.
