Local 623 and Southwest will not see any raises in pension

Here at 623, we have our own supplement just like 177 and 804. It was proclaimed that the negotiating committee was lied to by the company and that all economic issues are in the Master. Local 952 is claiming funds were diverted. Richard Hooker was claiming during his contract campaign that we wouldn't settle for anything less than more sick days, vacations, pension increases, holidays etc.

Well? We got nothing. Our pensions will be frozen for 5 years while everyone else will increase. No additional sick pay, vacation pay, holidays, etc. Here is the text from a steward and committee member.

I'm looking at the full text of the agreement. The overall picture is just huge improvements. Sick days were in our local negotiating team's top priorities. We were told the national team would be taking over all economic issues, including sick time, vacations, etc. -- that they were taking it out of our hands. That should have been a red flag, because now I see there was no mechanism to add sick and personal time to each agreement. Disappointing, but I suppose it is a lesson learned. As far as the master agreement is concerned, it seems to address every major issue Teamsters had in their sights. Of course, you never get everything, and you never please everyone. But, remember, we all ranked our top concerns as a union, which assumes that some areas will get more attention than others. I think what I like the most is how much improvement this agreement wrings out of the company in so many areas. This was only possible because we fought hard and fought smart -- in other words, we fought like a union.

This was a huge mistake on Richard Hooker's part. It doesn't matter whether you were lied to or not. You paid a labor attorney to sit in on these negotiations. This is simply neglect and now the members of Local 623 have to pay the price for his incompetence.

By the way, Mr Hooker spent a great deal of time telling the membership how we were sold out by the Hoffa administration on YouTube channels and tv interviews and he erased his past on social media. He was an ardent supporter of Hoffa, Hall, O'brien.

The company didn't sell us out. An incompetent leader did. I will be voting no to the 623 supplement and master.

BTW... Richard Hooker replaced our lawyer firm (which I supported) with one that negotiated the 2013 contract (The BIGGEST sellout in Teamsters history).

Welcome to the club Brother, its not just 623 and the Southwest its the thirteen Western States. The Western Conference of Teamster Pension Plan is the biggest Teamster Plan and these morons are trying to destroy it. A five year freeze from the richest company we deal with, UPS. Way to go Boss, after all this rah rah we take a .50 cut, but I see your Basket case plan is getting quite an influx of cash.

I just got a text message from a friend in Pittsburgh who was in the original Vote No Movement. He said that Article 34 was struck from the language and their supplement depended on that clause. Their pensions are now frozen. I also got another text from California that almost the whole country is frozen because of it. I would need more clarification.

All in all, it looks to me like another sell out. For all those cheering for Sean O'brien, you might want to hold your applause. It's getting deep.
