As predicted here! Yellow closes, 28,000 Teamsters lose their jobs!

A Straight out political move by Oz. "Let Yellow go, as regardless of what we do to save them, the members will blame us" so they let the members drown. Regardless of what you may think about the past Freight directors and the Hoffa administration, they allowed the members to make a choice...put it to death or continue to work and get health benefits, pension, 401k, vacations, etc. While it was a substandard agreement, thousands with seniority stayed and thousands more came to work there. Did the IBT sign a favored nations clause with ABF, which required them to demand the same from Yellow, or did they just let it go so as to not suffer and political backlash. Another pathetic lack of leadership and representation.

Yellow gone as the IBT stands by watching. Members never given an opportunity to make any decisions. How will kicking 22 to 28 thousand teamsters to the curb help us organize in freight or anywhere else? Was there any thought to how doing nothing would affect organizing in general?

The plan to have a big fight and victory at UPS which would lead to organizing Amazon seems to have fizzled. Now the focus is just to get the TA passed ASAP cause this one is getting stale fast. What will be the next plan to grow, because we are headed in the wrong direction.

So so sad. O'brien now refuses to even talk about Yellow. I wouldn't blame SOB, but the backlash couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

PR doesn't create a militant union. The OZholes have now kicked 22,000 Yellow and 12,000 GCEIU members to the curb. Brilliant! These people are my friends and co-workers thiis is a spineless political caculation. So much for growing the union.

Absof**kingloutely, these guys are political hacks. They have no ones back. The tough guy might want to work on his smart guy skills. they saw both of these groups as threats and liabilities to thier political futures. Just cut bait and move on.

This is a full contact sport alright, OZ calls a strike, yellow goes down.

                Waiting for the spin.
And the members had no say. F**king gutless.

I guess my point is that he would of never threatened to shut down yellow if he understood the industry, empathized with the members or cared about how the union maintains freight. I mean, he’s never lost a job. He is totally disconnected from reality because he’s benefited from nepotism his whole life.

Now Yellow is gone and UPS members got a taste of their own medicine. Other industries have been ignored and organizing is nowhere.

Our entire image and reputation is ruined because of him.
You would of thought these business unionists would have at least wanted to hang on to the 1.2 million in dues they generate every month. Organizing freight just got a lot harder

Sometimes leaders have to make tough choices and yellow is a perfect example. The members have never wanted Yelllow to close down. We all know that management has been weak at best, thieving at worst. The members KNOW THIS. It’s the union’s job to keep it alive even if you lose a popularity contest. Honesty is really hard, but it works. Say whatever you want about Hoffa but FFS he would of put Yellow on life support if the members wanted it.
Well stated Brother, I think that sums it up.
