    UPS contract vote

Has it been stated exactly how the vote on the UPS contract will be conducted? Seems like there’s is a lot of assumptions out there.

“ in person style” ? 340,000 members ? Without observers how will it be verified?

Here's an idea. We get back into negotiations with the company, bargain the best tentative agreement we can squeeze out of them. Take a few weeks to communicate exactly what's in it, in real contract language, then give a couple weeks to make sure that every Teamster member has had an opportunity to vote, by mail or electronic voting. If the proposed contract is rejected we can strike immediately.

We have plenty of experience doing this right.

If this is as important, as everyone knows it is, shouldn't we take the time to do it right so there's no doubt about the integrity of the vote.

All that sounds good, but the longer members look over the contract the more likely they notice the warts. Sell it to the full timers, limit the time and access to read the real changes, vote it in person limiting part time involvemnt, pass the contract and the OZholes remain in power for years to come. That's the plan

Exactly. I want to see the language proposals from both sides. And, not right before we vote

Its seems like maybe the timing of this performance was off by a couple of weeks. If they get a last minute offer and rush a vote we'll know this has been in the bag, they've already listed 55 TA's and all supplements agreed to. We know UPS has money and will direct it at voters. What's the point of all this drama?

There's no contract vote because there currently is no proposal to present to the membership yet. Once a proposal is received that is recommended by the committee or a last/best and final is received, members will be given notice on how voting will be conducted

Do you hear yourself ? All that’s being asked is what will be the process , ABF was a walk in vote and the “ strike vote “ was a walk in vote .Fred Zuckerman still holds local elections in a walk in vote at the union hall , even though its in the middle of peak ! He even held a walk in vote during Covid !
So I guess it’s not a bad idea to ask , after all we don’t want to be rushed into this huge decision!

We don’t need the offer to be told HOW the vote will be conducted ! In the past it was a mail in ballot counted with observers, are we supposed to just trust what we are told ? There might be a “ keystroke error” just like in the 206,000 new members that were reported to us . Remember what Reagan said “ trust but verify “ . We are looking for integrity in this vote , no ?

Will there be a two man meeting as always ? Oz loves video’s , why not let the members see this contract revealed in detail ?

Of course vote how you want ! The question is how will the vote be held and counted ?

It doesn't matter how things were done last time, the vote process may not be the same. It will be up the committee on whether they want a speedy vote or not.

It could even be conducted electronically
