My opinion I think UPS & union struck a deal. UPS has a threat, that threat is Amazon. I'm sure UPS wished Amazon was organized. So make it look like a real struggle "manufacturing a threat". Tell the world we are going to go on strike. At the last minute the contract will be ratified. Now the union can use this as a marketing ploy to show Amazon workers the Teamsters are bad asses getting everything workers want.

One would think the July 5th deadline meant something in being able to call a 2 person meeting and then conduct the national wide vote. This isn't like a smaller local contract that can just be voted at a union hall meeting.

This thing has never felt right from the beggining, It's felt like a PR sideshow and crap shoot. It may well turn out to be genius, but seems like lots of risk taking and leaving the rank and file out in the dark. It's hard not to be a skeptic at this point. I hope I'm proven wrong and this ends well.

Why was I notified that this thread was deleted? It is still here, and looking back at the last 9 months, it seems to be prophetic.

It was a a bunch of worthless theatrics, a contract filled with concessions and now 43,000 UPSers are gone. And, the IBT is silent???

How much of this downsizing was discussed and agreed to by the IBT negotiating committee, while they held fake strike lines and acted tough.

In hindsight, those fake strikes, marching in n circles, then going to work, were really sadly the indication of a weak union. Who stands on a strike line, then goes to work when the boss blows the whistle? Weak!

Funny, local 100 DHL workers did exactly the same thing at CVG in December 2023. I saw posts of DHL workers explain how they stood on the picket line during 1st shift, then went to work on 3nd or 3rd shift. Then the 1st shift workers would cover the picket line at night, after they got off work.

Is this the new Teamsters Union? It is a weak version of the Teamsters I knew.

Two local 100 people ( an agent and a trustee ) were on the committee. But, all we saw was them standing in the hallways taking selfies.

I assume many if the 100a of people they 0laced in the committee, were not really involved in negotiations s.

They were just part of the theatrics, a huge group of spectators, the IBT called a committee.

As local 100 ST, I never once took a selfie during negotiations. I was always too busy trying to find solutions to improve the contract.

You’re just sore that you never got to be in negotiations pal.

As Tony Cochran has said repeatedly since 2022 those members were “window dressing and wallpaper “

Nope, but it's pretty clear that most of the people invited to those meetings were not paying attention. Or their loyalty was to the committee leaders not their members.

I would have been thrown off that committee anyway. I would have opposed the non disclosure deal, I would have opposed the rail language concession, I would have opposed the continuation of multiple wage levels and I would have opposed allowing UPS the liberal technology language that is allowing them to layoff 1000s of workers.

The IBT does not allow members to hold opposing beliefs. The campaign to surpress ideas and free speech is proof that IBT corruption continues.
