    Contract Negotiation Process

This will explain the basics for bargaining a contract.
    a) Union leadership distribution of proposal surveys for the rank and file
    b) Surveys are collected and proposals are drafted from survey results
    c) Employer or Union may make first pass of proposals at the table.
    d) When a proposal is passed across the table, the party may accept the proposal or submit a counter proposal
    e) During any time in the process, the Employer can present their Last, Best and Final offer. Basically a take it or leave it.
    f) Members will typically not see any proposals until both sides have a tentative agreement or the Employer presents their Last, Best and Final.

    g) If a tentative agreement is reached, it is presented to the Members for a ratification vote
    h) If Members ratify the tentative agreement, it is then proofread by both sides and signed by both parties.
    i) If Members vote down the tentative agreement, both sides will schedule dates to try and tweak the agreement to pass
    j) At this point, expect the bargaining committee, Stewards and everyone involved to hit the shops to try and convince members to vote yes the second time around
    k) The Employer may not be open to returning to the bargaining table. If Union has already taken a strike vote and given notice, strike will commence.
    l) During the strike, Employer and Union will try to reach an agreement. Employer will take to the media to portray their proposal as fair. They will also start communicating with Employees to sale the contract
    m) The strike is only as strong as it's weakest link. Within two weeks, some Members will already be hurting. The longer the strike goes on, the bigger the possibility is that Members will ratify an agreement that is similar to what was initially proposed.

Lastly, for the UPS agreement. Full timers will be happy with the agreement, some part timers will hate it and the other part timers will quit or just accept reality. UPS will never pay you what you are worth.

FT will be happy because the majority of them don't care about part-timers and live beyond their means.

Thanks for doing your part to lower expectations. I'm sure your bargaining team is proud of you

He just admitted that they asked for less then $25 , he basically said “ who cares if part timers hate it , they can quit or live with it “

Anyone who thinks we are gonna get an awesome contract is delusional. O'Brien is no different than Hoffa.

I read this as not in favor of less for part-timers, he or she is just stating how it's gone in the past and how it's going to go now.

This was allegedly a change election. I'm sick of politicians. Make a case for the difference in the last regime and this one.

It sucks because we are not allowed to go against the top dogs otherwise we find ourselves back at our barns with no chance of being in leadership roles anymore.

We need to vote the bums out. Leadership works for us, not the other way around

I'm a combo, I've been voicing my opinion loudly but some in the room have their minds made up.
