    In Person Voting Again?

It appears on the surface to be a decent contract at ABF. So why are we making people vote in person? Is UPS next?

(CHICAGO) – Teamsters Union local leaders have announced their endorsement and support for the tentative agreement reached between th

Members still don't know how much of the $4.46 for H&W is going to pension. The IBT's press release does not give a breakdown nor will the negotiators that know tell the locals.

Does the pension remain frozen at $7.81?

In person voting is just another way of intimidating members and controlling the outcome of the vote.

In person or walk-in voting was historically used in the Teamsters to intimidate and limit voting pure and simple.

There are dozens of ways to manipulate the vote in a walk-in ballot. Thats why since we've had national Teamster elections the election administrator has always used mail in voting. This union has very modern, safe electronic systems that have been used without incident.

Why are we doing walk-in votes?

In person makes sense for locals with smaller units but why ABF?

I’ve heard that Zuckerman’s local 89 still uses walk in voting in local elections . Does anyone know if that’s true ?

We need someone from local 89 to confirm or deny the post about local election voting . Even during Covid they insisted on walk-in voting ballots ? , rumor that the slate opposing Zuckerman petitioned the IBT and the to avoid in person voting and were denied . Sounds really “ old guard”

I have some contacts at 89 I can reach out to. They were ex-TDU that were fighting Fraud Suckerman when he was a Hoffa Askisser.

I messaged one of their members. He told me that the strike authorization vote was at the union hall one day only. They also do all their elections in person voting at the union hall. Sometimes on days that a lot of members have to work.

I will put credit where credit is due. Our local (623) had voting at the union meeting and at the gates, where as all members were afforded as much opportunity as possible to vote. Everyone had to sign next to their name in an alphabetical binder. For dropping the ball like O'brien did, Local 623 did a good job with this flim flam process.

He said yes. It is true. Even in this article it says that's how they voted on their contract at Jeffboat.

Looks like they are trying to ram this thing in at warp speed. Voting is happening quickly and most members haven't seen the full contract. Serious questions about pension and two tier bobtail language, just to mention a few. Don't let the upfront money fool you this thing is loaded with hooks and barbs.

Looks like ABF members have voted to reject the TA in several locals.
