I read about the lock out of Teamsters in New Jersey a week ago on t-unionlink and thought the same thing. With the gas price crisis because of the Iran war, it seemed like a strange time to lock out refinery workers, not to mention being two weeks away from an election. I expected a big pushback, but didn't hear anything. Thanks to this article now I find out it's much broader issue. Our union should be doing more to gain public support for all these refinery workers, right now workers have leverage with politicians and the general public. Good article.

Trump is openly saying "We're making a freakin' fortune!" while campaigning for his right wing anti-worker pals in Congress.
He's referring to the oil companies' profits realized by Trump's illegal war on Iran and paid for by people filling their gas and diesel and fuel oil tanks.

Unless I missed it, I don't see O'Brien expressing any concern about the locked out refinery workers, including Teamsters in Linden, New Jersey Local 877. Given that these refineries are run and owned by the corporations "making a freakin' fortune", one would expect the General President of the Teamsters to prioritize these locked out members; with the election six days away, what a great opportunity to publicize the hypocrisy and inequity shown by these freakin' "corporate white collar criminals" as our fearless leader proclaims regularly.

Our Local 251 lobbyist happily and proudly advised me that O'Brien "has a direct line to him [Trump]".

Hopefully, Trump/MAGA will be overwhelmed next Tuesday at the ballot box. O'Brien's vision of "bipartisanship" is a dead end.
