How does this work? O’Brien gets him off the board and then makes him the top dog in the western pension fund? Must be a trade in there somewhere.

Chuck Mack to officially retire as chair of the WCTPT at end of year.
Rick Hicks of Local 174 in Seattle and Western Region VP will replace Mack as chair.

As a precondition of accepting the chairmanship, Hicks has to resign from all Teamster positions which he has agreed to.

The news will be announced at the next JC 42 gathering in November.

He got the support of the companies who he promised not to allow Sean O'Brien to lay a finger on.

Hicks had a falling out with O'Brien and is fed up with Teamster politics. He is happy to take over the fund.

The WCTPT is strong because of all the company people on the fund with finance degrees, not the Teamsters on the board who can't read, write or count to save their lives!

I’ve heard that the Western Conference Teamsters Pension Fund is not an absolute defined benefit fund, is that true?

AlJackson1962, It's a hybrid, members each have individual accounts. Pensions are based on the contributions negotiated in each individual CBA and the hours compensated for.

I know nothing about the replacement for Union cochair in the Western Conference Pension Fund. Why would Rick Hicks have to agree to resign all Teamster positions he has as a condition to get the cochair job? O’Brien is still Union cochair of the New England Teamsters Pension Fund.

im not saying that any full-time position should allow multiple salaries, but this would constitute a significant change in those serving as Union trustees of a Teamster pension fund. Long standing past practice shows almost all Union trustees hold full-time Teamster positions.

who has dictated such. change? Maybe that’s a good thing provided it is applied universally. Union Trustees of Union pension funds at best should be elected by secret ballot by all affected members.

Rick Hicks was a VP and could have stopped the Davison/Mineros pension give back at UPS but didn't have the balls, even though he told plenty of people it was a mistake and would hurt the Pension. Now he ends up in charge on the union side, this shit never ends.
