    UPS Strike Authorization Vote Rollout

So O'Brien shotgun wedding style caught every local by surprise with this strike authorization vote. My local is dragging their feet over in person voting at the hubs we represent. Initially they wanted to only have the vote during a 2 hour window Saturday Sunday morning. Obviously a bunch of members complained and the local opened voting to business hours of the union hall.

What is voting looking like at your locals? Have leadership tried to get as much turnout as possible or are they making excuses?

Only voting at the hall Sunday and Monday 9-5. We have buildings that are more than a 3 hours drive from the hall.

They (IBT) will never tell you how many (FEW) voted only the percentage of yes/no votes. They don't care.

I heard Local 542 in San Diego has a two hour window, 1-3pm on Sunday June 11.

This last minute announcement of the strike vote has left a lot of locals scrambling. We'll get a strong yes percentage but we could have reached a lot more members with a little more time, missed opportunity.

The voting could have been done electronically, while organizing for turnout.
