So, some poor staff person, with 30 plus years gets fired; no warnings, no due process, just fired! A lame attempt to cover for mistakes that Oz should own and simply apologize for. Instead a further lesson to IBT employers on how to treat their employees, our sisters and brothers. Hypocrisy isn't a strong enough word.

Thought those clerks were union. When I protested the 2013 contract on the front steps, a guy came out and shook my hand and told me that a bunch of people in the building supported the Vote No Movement. He also told me they were union and were treated like crap in their contracts.

Unfortunately a lot of Union Staff are not allowed to join a Union. When Union's started acting like regular employers and firing people, labor lost

Pretend your a local Secretary Treasurer and staff, or the locals accountant, gives you an LM-2 form to sign and you glance at the total that shows you gained 1,000 members in the last year. Wouldn't your first question be "where did 1,000 new members come from that I didn't hear about?"

In this case the number wasn't one thousand it was 206,000. Didn't Zuckerman or O'Brien ask "where did they come from and why didn't we know about it". Instead they took a chance, doubled down on the mistake that now became a lie, got a lot of praise for the "new Leadership" and took credit for a big mistake as if it was a huge victory.

If they had fixed it before it went out, which is the officers job, no problem. If they missed it and it went out they could have just admitted the mistake, filed an amendment, and moved on . None of this would have happened and a long term employee would still have a job. Trying to shift responsibility to staff is cowardly. Honesty is always the best policy.

You have to ask yourself if they can’t simply be honest about this “ mistake “ how can we trust them to be honest with us about other occurrences? How about all the other firings that have taken place in Washington? How about Vice President John Palmer being removed from all assignments? Why have they not told us about the firing of this 30 year employee ? Is this how a union is supposed to treat a worker? So is it the policy of the O’Brien administration to simply ignore news that they don’t want members to know?

The brain drain at the IBT is real. There is no one left who actually knows how to manage the work and complicated task of implementing it with the local unions.

John Palmer should have never been deployed in the field because principal officers do not trust him (for good reason).

The fact that long term employees continue to be fired sends a message that this vengeful, childish team is hostile to locals and untrustworthy to staff.
