O'Brian sent an incompetent and inexperienced one term principal officer to replace Hawkins who was an unelected chair put in by O'Brian after government, lying informant Frates gave up 50 years of the NorCal UPS locals electing NorCal chairs. Frates sold out to O'Brian after the locals voted to remove him as chair. Hawkins showed promise when he first got appointed, but turned out to be nothing more than a frates puppet. The IBT, even during the Hoffa administration, tried to trade off or negotiate away the NorCal (JC7) superior language and benefits. Two strong JC Presidents, who were also IBT VPs protected their NorCal locals against these attempted raids. They were not owned by Hoffa or Hall, and stood up to them and kept the language amd benefits. Now, unfortunately there is a VP who doesn't have a clue, is balless, and will do nothing to stop UPS from taking away NorCal language and member protections. Supplements will be forced to give UPS more flexibility and there will be a large wage increase so that members will accept. The PR tornado from the IBT designed to scare members and then give them relief is being swallowed hook, line, and sinker. Remember, less than 48% of the members even voted on the contract last time, and only 25% voted no. Not convincing as a militant group.

I don't know if Hawkins has been removed or not, but I do know NorCal has better terms and conditions than most. UPS would like to change that, its important to the entire union that UPS is not successful. Strong VP's protected that and other agreements, the VP's in the West now are respected by no one.

Everything that I've been hearing is that negotiations are going well. What if the tentative agreement that is negotiated is presented to the members, we hate it and vote it down. Will the committee go back to the table or are they can impose it on us like the last contract?
