Are officers taking the UPS buyout?

Can anyone tell me if what I’m hearing is true? Members are posting that some of their executive board members are taking the $150,000 buyout while they re still in office! Is this even legal in our constitution? If this is true then we will have members of the $200,000 club also taking $150,000 AND still collecting a salary from the local ( maybe from the IBT nd joint council also)?

    CAN THIS BE TRUE?

Are you kidding??? Is this the deal O’Brien made? Stop the members from taking it until his loyal officers cash out first!!!

If true, that’s corruption. Regardless, how is it permissible under the IBT Constitution to change the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement without a secret ballot ratification vote by the Union members of the bargaining unit?

I believe it is true, hearing reposts from several different locals. Members should ask their board if they have taken a buyout. Seems like I would want my leaders to employed and have an interest in future contracts since they would be under those agreements if they ever had to go back to working there.

Even more interesting is the fact that one of these guys is also a stipend employee at the IBT. Sean I'm sure your OK with that, right?

It’s true and Teamsters 63 has several agents or officers that took it. Really simple to find out. Just check the most recent seniority list for the names of agents or officers. If their names are no longer there then they took the buyout. Ask management for current seniority list. Talk gets around real quick. Local 63 isn’t the only local. Several locals in Southern California had people that took the buyout. Eventually the list will come out. So much for solidarity. If you take the buyout you should no longer work for a Teamster local.

Great idea! Every local should have to post their seniority list!!
