Judge gives UPS green light for boyouts

Sean O'Brien took his one chance to block the UPS buyout and ended up losing court. Of course there is no update from the IBT yet! But is anyone surprised????
A U.S. district court in Boston has rejected a Teamsters union motion to stop UPS from buying out package car drivers in an effort to reduce excess capacity.

Any entry level business agent knew this was going nowhere. Buyouts are better than layoffs. Everyone has got to stop hosing the members and just service the contracts well. It’s ridiculous.

I'm not sure it even meets the level of a ULP. UPS never failed to meet the terms of the agreement and as I understand it's not illeagal to exceed the terms of the CBA. Remember the MRA's ? O"Brien has failed to accomplish anything other than pissing off eligable members. The tough guy loses again, what else would you expect from the UMass flunkie?

Yes, contract economic items are usually minimums. When it's a voluntary program, it's not a bonus or payment. When you terminate your employment and this is part of the exit pkg, you get what you get plus this ' incentive '. Im not a lawyer but No one gets discriminated against apparently, or neg affects on seniority or forces one out. Plus this was already ligitgated. Old news I think.
