Let me see....Stephen Colbert....Jimmy Kimmel....Now Teamsters Mobilize. TDU is Trump

I guess authoritarians rule the day in the application of democracy. Now Paff and Levin are banning Teamster Mobilize.

Over the past month, five members of Teamsters Mobilize (Colleen, Jennifer, Jess, and Kat from the TM steering committee; and Chloe from the general membership) registered and paid in full for admittance at the 2025 Teamsters for a Democratic Union convention. As proclaimed on the TDU website, this convention is “open to Teamsters who want to work together to build our union’s power from the bottom up.” Within days, Colleen, Jess, and Kat received emails notifying them that their registration payments had been refunded. No explanation or further message was provided in any of these three cases. Jennifer and Chloe both received personal emails from David Levin, the paid Staff Director of TDU, informing them that they would not be allowed to attend, on the false pretense that TM members were planning to “crash” the convention. These exclusions come in the wake of TDU revoking the membership and convention registration of John Palmer, IBT VP-at-large, who has publicly spoken out against Sean O’Brien (see our previous social media posts from September 8, 2025, featuring an open letter to TDU members from Palmer and other Teamsters, including two TDU co-founders). They also mirror similar forced exclusions against TM members Maya and Chantelle from the TDU convention in 2023. The leadership of TDU is doing all they can to crack down on debate, open expression of disagreement, and opposition to the current leadership of the O’Brien administration. This is in line with the broader current push by the US ruling class to limit civil liberties and political dissent. We decry the blatant anti-democratic nature of these crack downs and call on our fellow Teamsters, including the rank-and-file of TDU, to speak up. Freedom of dissent and criticism are cornerstones of union democracy. This is all the more true when Teamsters leadership is continuing, and in some ways intensifying, the methods of class-collaboration employed by union leadership for decades, even as the OZ administration tries to put forward a “militant” image. Lost strikes, organizing defeats, sell-out contracts and member disengagement are unavoidable consequences of this ideology and style of “leadership”. Many Teamsters can sense these problems – we see and hear them all the time in our barns and in our local meetings. But without the freedom to criticize, they remain hidden behind closed doors – just the way that the likes of Tobin, Hoffa, and O'Brien have always wanted it. What we demand is the same right that all honest union members (including many of the founders of TDU) have demanded since the beginning of the union movement - the opportunity to openly discuss the issues in our union, in service of the membership and the broader working class. We, the signatories of this petition, demand a full explanation for, and the reversal of, these unjustified and anti-democratic shadow bans, and for the cessation of such practices moving forward. Let us never forget – agents of the ruling class among the union bureaucracy fear and mistrust open discussion; militants welcome it!

Their afraid of what might be happening at the convention, nobody around TDU likes the Trump/O'Brien shit, and their talking about it. Easiest way to deal with it is eliminate anyone with the ability to lead on the convention floor. TDU members know how bad Trump is for labor and they know a con-man when they see one. It doesn't help O'Brien that after all the "historic" hype in the last UPS contract the big issues still remain unresolved.

Yard dog is correct, without TDU sponsoring or endorsing an alternative choice there will be no change in administration in DC. Have we forgotten that when Zuckerman ran with what was considered a reform slate THEY WON in the United States? It was only a few thousand votes from Canada that stopped a complete sweep. That signaled the membership wanted change and instead of building towards that goal TDU bought into what we have now. TDU no longer has drive or focus they once had.

Makes you wonder if those Canadian votes would still go to a Trump supporter?

So, is O’Brien telling Paff to ban anyone who may object to his cozy relationship with Trump? It’s kind of funny how an organization with Democratic in their name would act so I undemocratic .

Seems like TDU is mirroring the Trump administration, attacking and banning anyone who doesn’t agree with Paff. I remember when TDU’s verbiage was Hoffa,Hall, O’Brien.
Maybe it should be changed to Trump, O’Brien, Paff!

Obviously the majority of the members are happy with Mr. Magoo supporting Donald. Alot of 560 members supported him.

You have to wonder just how many TDU members support O’Brien supporting Trump? That is what Paff is afraid of finding out!

If they show up levin could have everyone walk out the way the red vested Hoffa, Hall, O’Brien supporter’s did, seems like TDU has become everything they ever opposed.

            "Crash?"

WTF? Was that a reference to picketing, civil disobedience, guerilla theater?
