A serious charge and one that if true will have repercussions for a very long time to come. I've heard more than a hundred staffers at IBT were fired almost immediately. Its easy to understand that certain people will be let go, higher level types like General Council, Division heads and so forth. This purge was more than that but this is the first time I've heard there may have been a racial element. It certainly doesn't surprise me though. Maybe some of these folks will eventually come forward and corroborate this charge or maybe the writer is the one with first hand knowledge.

I would agree that inclusion and diversity are problems for leadership at all levels in most locals, joint councils and the GEB. This is something that must be self-consciously dealt with. The various committees should be areas for member activity, leadership building and recruiting for our organizations. The prospects of women and leaders of color stepping forward should be embraced, not derided. Having young worker committees has been a priority for many of the leaders in the new administration for some time, to develop new leadership at every level.

Yet in this thread there are inconsistencies and inaccuracies. One of the two women on the GEB is bashed at the rumor of her being elevated to GST. Mind you just an unsubstantiated rumor. And the current GEB is the most diverse team assembled. Clearly not all older white men. 27 total (including 3 Trustees), 4 leaders of color, 2 women and at least 3 age 50 or younger at the time of swearing in. Clearly not reflective of our membership as a whole, but moving in the right direction. Ultimately, members need to earn leadership spots by doing the job of building the union well and the recognition will come.

Where did I hear this before? Older white men? Is this another post by Hookrabasi or are you related? I can't believe posts like this are tolerated here.

Anybody need to know about other statements made like this, go look up Hookrabsi on other platforms and see what he has to say about "older white men at local 623".

If someone has the list of those who were fired they should post it . Facts are facts, if Drivers claim is true it should be obvious.
