Those televised "cabnet meetings" are nothing more than opportunities for the least qualified cabnet in history to heap praise on dear leader as if we're in North Korea.
Our country is being humiliated before our eyes. From Secretary of Labor DeRemer flying a giant Banner of Trumps mug shot picture to the sight of US military men and women on their hands and knees rolling out the red carpet for Trump's war criminal buddy Vladimir Putin, disgusting. Whats also disgusting is the role our General President has played in this moment in history.

How long before O’Brien flys a huge portrait of himself over the IBT?

All of the glorification that his cabinet publicizes is written by Trump and they prostitute their selves by accepting it. Makes me barf in my own mouth. You can bet that O'Brien tows the same line. Disgraceful!

In case any reader missed it, the below (near the end of the article) speaks volumes.

"Trump praised Chavez-DeRemer and thanked Sean O’Brien, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters president, who lobbied Trump to appoint Chavez-DeRemer to his Cabinet. Chavez-DeRemer’s father was also a member of the Teamsters union.

“You’ve really turned out to be a gem,” Trump said after Chavez-DeRemer’s remarks during Tuesday’s meeting."

By all accounts O'Briens pic for Secretary of Labor Chavez DeRemer won the ass kissing contest hands down, the banner with Trumps mug shot iced it. Soooo proud.

Not a fan of the politics of the union. But overall the union has been in a better place with the changes O’Brien has put in place. It’s unbelievable how many union members support Trump. Even in my local.

              Jesslynn804:

Putting aside all of O'Brien's actions, other than his support for the Trump/MAGA agenda, he has set the Union back and the entire US labor movement back by his silence and support for the Trump/MAGA actions taken against workers rights, and the rights generally that people in this country have fought decades to win. Trump/MAGA is engaged in building an authoritarian government for the wealthy at the expense first, of the most vulnerable people (people of color, immigrants fleeing their homes because of violence, hunger, exploitation, and more, people leading their lives as they should have the right to choose {trans people, women having control over their own bodies, etc.}, erasure of the US history of the Civil Rights Movement, degradation of the Earth; the list of Trump/MAGA policies to maximize profits for the ruling class is too long to list here. We are in a shit storm in this country, and O'Brien is fighting for the ruling class and repeats the same divide and conquer talking points used by Trump/MAGA. Public sector workers losing the collective bargaining rights they have fought for that were solidified by federal law; now all public sector workers in the US are working under open shop conditions; no union security!
Private sector workers' rights are on the chopping block.

A person who is elected as General President of our 1.3 million member Union has the responsibility to act in the members' best interests. The "politics" you refer to in your above post are directly relevant to the power of organized labor.

The above does not take into account O'Brien's actions within the Teamsters (outside of the "politics" you reference in your post). O'Brien is out for O'Brien and he could give a rat's ass about issues that are critical to the rank and file. He is all talk about building rank and file power; he has stifled dissent within the Union, and retaliates against those willing to stand up to him. VOTE HIM OUT!
