Local Unions aren't all the same

I'm glad to see our Union come together around the contract at UPS. Its a big deal for our union in general and a win will help locals like mine bring on new members even though its not our jurisdiction. Its good to see powerful locals like 804 and its President represent Teamsters. But very few local unions have the kind of resources available to them that 804 has. I think most Teamster Locals have lots of small contracts that they negotiate locally often against big national corporations. Thats who most Teamster members work for.

We all know we've lost a lot of members over the last several years and UPS has grown. The membership losses have come outside UPS. Its time we paid an equal amount of attention to those non UPS majority locals if we want to stop the bleeding.

O'Brien doesn't give a damn about crafts outside UPS. And it's funny because he himself never loaded a truck or drove a package car.

These non UPS locals have sizable concerns , they deserve more attention and support from the IBT
