    Richard Hooker? You listening?

I recently viewed a podcast featuring Richard Hooker and Chris Silvera. It was encouraging to hear discussion containing content regarding "grand scheme" (so to speak). At one point they addressed the question of "how to" with respect to getting members on the same page (paraphrasing here). Richard spoke about "feeders" and "package drivers". However, part-timers were left out of this particular "solution". (Maybe this was just for comparisons sake?) Here is the issue. Part-timers are in the majority but generally do not get much involved. Low turnout for Local elections, low turnout for CBAs, low turnout for International elections, etc. You can't begin to answer the question of "how to" at UPS without having the part-time majority engaged.

Richard, if you are listening...you can't win and International election without heavily engaging with part-timers. If I can go one step further...you can't win an International election without engaging with Canadian Teamsters. That's an easy message to frame right there. If your slate is unwilling to put in a laborious effort in these areas then ya'll shouldn't run. Instead, build for the future while building a committee and name recognition.

    Good luck either way!

If he runs in against Hamilton he will need a slate or it will be him against ALL the eastern VP’s . At least that’s the way I understand it to work.
