    2026 General Election

Anyone have any idea who might be running against OZ besides Palmer? I haven't seen anyone announce yet

Apparently no one is running. At least no one is running with any chance to win. It is one year until the convention where delegates will be needed to even get on the ballot, delegate elections will start relatively shortly. With no announced candidates to oppose Oz why would anyone even run for delegate?
if anyone knows anything to the contrary please post.

If he is apparently he is not campaigning. Rumours swirl about a split on O’Brien’s board and about Silvera running again.
The fact is you need money and a campaign staff, if there is a secret group out there they need to be told that secret slates NEVER win .

Didn’t Silver announce he was running last time and then did not? Is that the same guy?

Is he running in secret? Someone tell him he needs signatures to get accreditation so he can have Ad pages in the magazine. First he has to announce so people know who they are signing for. Duh!

It's not a secret Richard Hooker announced on his and Silvera's regular show. I hope they get with Palmer.

O'Brien forced every principal officer to donate $2k and en an endorsement. Very few have not complied. But even many of those who have complied, are giving their delegates to Hooker.

No kidding? Has anyone seen proof that he forced them to do that?

If Principal Officers are giving $2,000 to OZ, its not because they're being forced to. All they have to do is say NO.

Principal Officers can't be "forced" to contribute. However, they are strongly "suggested" to contribute. If you know what I mean. This is nothing new. Now...anyone offered to run on a slate with SOB will? That will be conditional. You can count on it. Now...if you are guaranteed $300k per year plus perks and benefits as well as an "important" title... that's a small price to pay every few years. This has forever been the formula for creating sellouts.

I've posted on this site in the past admitting that I, like many Teamster local staff members, maxed out my 2021 contribution to the OZ Slate. I believed that it was the best available alternative to the opposition.
I got fooled. O'Brien had not changed from what he had shown himself to be. Maybe I should write him to request my contribution be returned to me. Hell, TDU has no problem refunding membership and TDU conference fees to those that the TDU Steering Committee deems undesirable and unworthy of membership in the Teamsters For A Democratic Union.

I wonder if TDU members are aware that the steering committee can deem members unworthy? I heard a rumor that they were not allowing Palmer to renew his membership, don’t know if that’s true. If it is there should be a rebellion at this convention!

I don't believe there is any letter, if there is some one should produce it. As others have said there doesn't have to be a letter to get the point across.

Why would someone put that in writing?

I also heard rumors that the local officer were given an August 15th, deadline to comply. Does anyone think that's true?

The TDU Steering Committee Co-Chairs voted to refuse membership renewal to Jess Leigh, UPS steward in Local 728. She did not violate any provision of the TDU Constitution, she did propose a resolution at the TDU Convention, like the UAW had done: Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza. TDU claims it's Constitution bars engaging in political action. With that interpretation of TDU's mission, we should all sit by while O'Brien and his Trump allies destroy the US labor movement. That interpretation of TDU members' rights within TDU is a crock of shit.

Mr. Magoo is getting those OZ petitions signed all.over the country. Tells me that the majority of the members at UPS and other Barns love him. What is up with that ?
