Why is there only 3 people running? Why don't they have a full slate?

I mean, what do they stand for? I readily admit that I have very little feelings for any GEB member that goes down as a result of sleeping with SOB and the current IBT administration. That said...Taibi and 251 have made extraordinary efforts to serve the Labor Movement in a good way. That particular Local is an exception and is not the place to begin with a reform movement effort. Too bad he is sleeping with SOB.

Did it ever occur to you that there may be more added to the ticket?

I have spoken to their members in passing. In our local, your lucky if you get a grievance paid out in a year or two. Those guys are getting payouts every month. I’m still waiting on 9.5’s from last may

The Local 251 Integrity Slate is comprised of three committed, honest, and active rank and file leaders, that have all held positions in Local 251. They have many combined decades of Local 251 membership.
They want better representation in the Local. I speak firsthand that Matt Taibi has undergone an unfathomable change since being added to the OZ slate. And it's not been for the better. Under Taibi there is a lack of democracy, there are excuses for actions by JC10 that have harmed fellow members, there is a chilling atmosphere for any dissent. I support the Local 251 Integrity Slate and am very glad to see these Brother members standing up.

          In Solidarity,
          Dave Robbins, Local 251, retired

OH NO!! what happens if Taibi losses? What will Paff and TDU do? 251 funds the Turdshow every year.

Splitting the vote practically guarantees the incumbents win!

That's always the case. Don't know the other candidates but Taibi is generally considered the most low IQ GEB member. With two opposition slates dumbo wins again. Maybe he's not so dumb eh?

                        To: percap2high:

I'm now retired and I don't speak for the Local 251 Integrity Slate (they can speak for themselves - and I hope they will).

As a Local 251 member that worked under S/T Taibi for 9 years, Taibi is certainly not "dumb". Unless "dumb" is defined as someone that puts his own interests ahead of the members you're elected to represent. Maybe that should be seen as "dumb", in the scheme of life (What are we here for anyway?). The problem is with Taibi, and those in Local 251 that refuse to speak up or acknowledge the changes in the Local since O'Brien said (after the Zuckerman slate won the majority of votes of US Teamsters in the prior IBT election): "Maybe I need to change." and O'Brien wrote his open letter in his public break with Hoffa, Jr. and made his peace with Paff, Levin, and other TDU'ers such as Taibi; the rest being history: OZ runs the IBT.

Local 251, like all Teamsters, need leaders in office and in the rank and file that are willing to stand up and speak truth to power. Taibi knows better. He knows that O'Brien's self-serving agenda is harming our International and Local 251 as a result. But he says nothing. And Taibi himself has dropped the ball on Local 251 members that have been harmed by O'Brien's actions and inactions. He has defended O'Brien over matters directly impacting Local 251 collective bargaining agreements to the detriment of the members. During the first 7 years of the Local 251 United Action Slate administration under Taibi, Taibi recognized O'Brien for what he is. And that all went away once Taibi went on the OZ slate.

The three candidates running on the Local 251 Integrity Slate have witnessed these changes and they want to see better representation for Local 251 members.

I was a member of Local 251 that had just made the seniority list at New Penn in 2013 when The Local 251 United Action Slate (with Taibi as Principal Officer) was campaigning.. When I stopped at the Local 251 Hall in East Providence, during my break on my city pedal run that August 2013 to transfer my membership from Toledo, Local 20, I was told: "So, you're transferring from Toledo, Ohio Local 20, you'll be able to vote in our upcoming Local election. The TDU is trying to take over and destroy our Local." I laughed and said, I'll be there! When each candidate of the Local 251 United Action Slate was nominated, I gave a standing, loud applause.

What I've seen in Local 251over the last term before I retired (2020 - 2022), is a lack of accountability by Taibi concerning violation of the IBT Constitution and Local 251 Bylaws, a lack of the basic principles of fairness and democracy, and an erosion of proper representation* (*I have heard first hand accounts by rank and file members that have collectively complained about poor representation at the Local 251 Regular Membership Meetings. And in two contracts I'm personally aware of Taibi turning a blind eye to JC10 transgressions that impacted Local 251 members to their detriment.).

And to sum it up: Rule #1 as a Union leader: DON'T BULLSHIT THE MEMBERS - IT WILL AND SHOUD COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU!

                        - Dave Robbins, Local 251 ,retired
