    Davidsons POWER Grab

Currently, members of Local 483 have a fair opportunity to challenge incumbents and run for leadership positions within their own Local. However, if Local 483 merges with the much larger Local 162, candidates from Idaho would face significant disadvantages in union elections, including:
    • Voter Disparity: Local 162, based in Portland, has a larger membership. In a combined election, Portland-based members would have greater voting power, making it much harder for Idaho candidates to gain traction.
    • Name Recognition & Campaigning Barriers: Candidates from Idaho would struggle to reach and campaign effectively among a predominantly Portland-based membership. The geographic separation would make it difficult to organize, attend meetings, and connect with voters.
    • Administrative and Leadership Bias: The existing administration in Local 162 would likely have greater influence over the merged union’s structure, policies, and election procedures. This could create structural barriers for Idaho-based challengers hoping to run for office and represent the interests of members in Southern Idaho.
A merger would not only dilute regional representation but also create unfair electoral disadvantages for Idaho members. Maintaining separate Locals ensures that all members have a fair chance at leadership roles, with elections that reflect their unique needs and local priorities.

    Well said!
I had to laugh when I read the reasons to “Vote Yes” on the merger was “Strong Contract Enforcement & Strong Representation.” Maybe 483 members should read this article Teamsters bureaucracy does nothing as UPS announces hundreds of additional layoffs or these posts on T-unionlink. Also, if I remember correctly, Local 162 and VP Davison wouldn’t even accept members grievances or consider the members city council plan about required permits. The list of reasons is considerably less the truthful, ask any of the laid off UPS workers at Local 162.

As one of those laid off workers that Davison wants out of his hair, I really hope 483 members vote in their best interests and stay far away from Marky Mark's grubby fingers.

You just listed all the reasons Davison wants that Local.

We tried to get a vote on the merger here, but Davison lied about the IBT constitution, suspended any new business, and cried about a demand letter delivery we did last month. Didn't take any questions about the merger and made it seem like a done deal.

Tell your fellow 483 members that the only way we can file grievances in 162 is by mail or fax. Also we never have rotating locations for meetings where members live. Our Bend members we absorbed from 962 have to drive to Portland if they want to attend union meetings. Mark hired his own daughter to be our 'communications' head. We don't have any social media or an email list, so what is she up to? All questions you should ask Mark if he attends your meeting tomorrow.

The only way Mark “Spicoli” Davidson loses is if you spread the word to those members in Idaho. Local 483. Anyone know their social media?

Probably such a tiny local they don’t have social media. And the flyer says Local leadership is endorsing the merger, which means they are in danger of being trusteed or closing their doors. Not every merger is a sinister power grab, they are sometimes a necessity

L162, i.e. Davidson, only cares about one thing, and that's number one. He has proven time after time that he could care less about members and what is best for them. Vote NO on any merger!

If you think that this is a big power, grab I can tell you you haven’t seen anything yet. Dustin Roach is gonna be swallowing up all kinds of work from other locals. Hisnumber one on the hit list is Local 710. He is coming after 710 work And then eventually he’s going to take over Local 215 and local 236. Watch.
