    Harris Endorsement

Our Union’s Presidential endorsement says far more than what candidate we select. It says who we are and what issues are important to our membership. The endorsement sends a powerful message to our friends and our adversaries. It says we will support those who listened to our issues, learned our positions and then acted in support. Quite simply when they deliver for Teamsters, we deliver votes and support for them. It is the responsibility of leadership to make sure that the candidates we select have a proven track record of support for our issues and are willing to fight for the interests of working people. Based on that common criterion, this endorsement decision couldn’t be easier, and it shouldn’t take a dinner at Mar a Lago, or this seemingly endless PR dance to figure out.

For the last several months our union has been involved in a process that is more about the union’s president than the candidates. Under his leadership we have effectively endorsed and “normalized” a candidate who has a history of working against our members best interests. This candidate is a billionaire, a known scab, a union buster with a track record of sexism, racism, and disdain for working people. His campaign is heavily funded by the anti-union super-rich. He is running to serve himself and his wealthy backers, who have nothing but disdain for working people.

In contrast, I am endorsing Kamala Harris for President. She has a proven record of supporting working people and unions. As Vice President, she championed the Butch Lewis Act, which protected our pensions. Harris has consistently advocated for fair wages, safe working conditions, and workers' rights. She has supported significant legislation like the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act, all of which have created union jobs and strengthened our communities. She will vigorously defend unions and oppose national “Right to Work” which is supported by her opponent.
Kamala Harris is endorsed by numerous unions, including the AFL-CIO, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), and the Communications Workers of America (CWA). These unions recognize her unwavering commitment to labor rights and her efforts to build an economy that benefits all workers. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters must now join with our union siblings and support the only viable alternative to chaos, division and anti-union attacks in this election. That alternative is Kamala Harris.

The choice is clear and not difficult at all. We need a partner in the White House that has the intelligence and willpower to push through pro-worker and pro-union Executive Orders, positive NLRB appointments and OSHA regulations, alongside advancing new legislation that protects our jobs and safety, creates new union jobs, and uplifts all working people. Kamala Harris is that leader.

    John Palmer
    International Vice President

Endorsing Harris is now the biggest no-brainer in history. But we also need to provide her presidency with sufficient support in the House and Senate to ensure that her progressive, pro-worker agenda can be implemented. It is unbelievable that the GOP is conducting seminars behind closed doors trying to get its members to stop attacking Harris in racial terms, stop accusing her of being a DEI hire, stop using racial and ethnic slurs in public, stop attacking opponents based on sexual orientation, or lack of children or... the list is endless. The "anti-woke" party is telling its members that it's ok to use poisonous rhetoric in private but might hurt Trump if they use it in public. We need to make sure we expose his congressional enablers by ripping off their white sheets and red armbands and replacing them with people who will support Harris with votes, not just an occasional visit to a picket line or an invitation to the RNC.

The brainiacs running the pol and leg scene better not play footsy too long with the orange criminal or Harris might endorse Palmer for spite. Then where are we? Hehe.

Kamala Harris represents the best opportunity to beat O'Brien's dinner partner Donald Trump "One tough SOB" says the Teamster SOB -). She will also help candidates down ballot, to win a House majority, and maintain and hopefully increase labor support in the Senate. No candidate is perfect, just like no person is perfect. But we stand on the precipice of a fascist state and we must eat our "reality sandwiches".
