Based on the facts you presented here over the last year on all the corruption there is in your local 100 and at the IBT i am considering voting for trump because I think he will try and clean up the Teamsters. Here is your chance to talk me out of it. I am in the western conference pension fund that check Mack and Rome guarded with their life. Why should I vote for grandpa Joe?

Trump is an overt racist, he loves authoritarian leaders around the world. He has a long history of refusing to pay what he owes in taxes, wages, multiple bankruptcies. He’s a complete hypocrite that hires undocumented workers, while calling refugee workers “animals, rapists, and thieves “, while he himself is a convicted rapist in civil court. I mean the guy is the most despicable excuse for a human being I’ve seen in my 72 year life on the planet. Why anyone who is a union worker would consider Trump a better choice than Biden, is beyond my comprehension.
Whereas, Biden will sign the PRO Act, passed the Butch Lewis Act, first day in office he fired the employer biased NLRB General Counsel that Trump appointed, and Biden won nominations for pro worker NLRB board members, recently expanded overtime rights for salaried workers, walked the UAW picket line, while Trump held a press conference during the same strike at a non union auto parts plant.

Biden, like everyone else is not perfect. Like the vast majority of politicians he has accepted money from PACs like AIPAC; thus his support for Zionist war on Palestine.

But, as a retired Teamster driver with 50 years in seven Teamster locals, O’Brien’s meeting with Trump in Mara Largoand allowing him to give a press conference in Teamsters headquarters, is, I believe, a violation of his oath of obligation under the Teamster Constitution. He has, by his actions, harmed fellow members and brought reproach upon the Union. He should be brought up on internal Union charges.

That’s my answer in a nutshell about Trump and his likeness Sean O’Brien.

Its understand that outside our union we all have varying opinions on many issues, that’s democracy. One would hope that inside our union the focus during elections would be on political leaders that support our union values to protect and advance the plight of workers and our families.

In the upcoming election the individual track records of the two candidates on labor issues reveals a stark contrast. Of all the differences, to me, none is more important than NLRB appointments. Under the past president the NLRB, (Economic Policy Institute Oct, 16 2019) had systematically rolled back worker’s rights to form a union and engage in collective bargaining. The past NLRB issued a series of significant decisions weakening worker protections and engaged in an unprecedented number of rulings that took aim at overturning existing worker protections. Clearly, the last president’s NLRB board and General Council elevated corporate interests above those of working men and woman. Is this what you are so proud of?

The current president, less than a month after taking office nominated and installed two veteran union lawyers, a NLRB attorney, Special Counsel to the CWA and other pro-union members to the NLRB to replace anti-union members and the agency’s General Council. This new NLRB is taking an aggressive approach to restoring the rights of organized labor in furtherance of the current president’s pro-union agenda.
Feel free to google the impact of each candidate’s actions related to the NLRB as there is lots and lots more.

As American’s we are free vote for whomever we wish. To me, as a strong union member, my choice is crystal clear!

PS, I here by nominate MR Teamster as the OZ troll of the week because of his attempts to provide OZ cover for the embarrassing support of the anti-union-anti-worker candidate.

You obviously need to go back and reread my couple of hundred posts understand that I am not someone that agrees with this current administration. But, I’m also done with illegal immigrants and I’m starting to lean on the Trump train. I’ll Sam talks nothing but trash about the Teamsters in his local 100. He is endorsing Biden and I’m wondering why somebody that’s so anti Teamster and anti-his own local would me to vote for Joe Biden. Can you understand that logic?

If illegal immigration is your issue how can you be leaning toward Trump? It was just weeks ago that he made all his congressional supporters vote down the first bipartisan border bill (supported by all border unions) mostly written by a republican immigration hard liner. Trump literally told congress to not solve the problem so he could have a good campaign issue. I'm with you more often than not but on this one....

MR. Teamster: “Can you understand that logic?
No, not your logic! Pitting worker against worker is an excuse not an answer.

Because somebody, somewhere, according to you, is anti-Teamster or anti-local, you want to vote for an anti-union-anti-worker President? How is that logical? So, who would do more damage to our union and workers, somebody somewhere or the person in control of the levers of power?

Logically, I would again say “Under the past president the NLRB, (Economic Policy Institute Oct, 16 2019) had systematically rolled back worker’s rights to form a union and engage in collective bargaining. The past NLRB issued a series of significant decisions weakening worker protections and engaged in an unprecedented number of rulings that took aim at overturning existing worker protections. Clearly, the last president’s NLRB board and General Council elevated corporate interests above those of working men and woman” and will continue to do the most damage because of misguided supporters like you.

Questions; Which candidate has the best union/worker NLRB record? Who saved our pensions? What candidate said ‘if you don’t support me, you won’t have a union?” (BY: ANDREW ROTH SEPTEMBER 28, 2023 ]8:16 AM What candidate appeared at an nonunion factory on September 27, 2023 (ByTrip Gabriel) and repeatedly asked for the endorsement of the U.A.W. president, but did not back any of the union’s contract demands?

Just like the other OZ trolls on this site seams all you can do is deflect.

Yep, you have my support as the best OZ troll of the week, maybe the month!

Over 60% of the Teamster membership endorse Trump for president. That should count for something.

If 60% of Teamsters support Trump, then that should be the red flag that wakes the damn IBT education department up.

They need to start sending out monthly newsletters, educating members about what's going on in Washington and around the nation.

Our media, the Teamster magazine does very little toward educating members. It's become a propaganda rag, with only the purpose to cheerlead for the current administration.

Look at the website, not one article educating members about the key union issues in Washington DC. Or who the key appointments have been by Biden (and Trump) and what policies they've installed or changed.

Maybe a timeline article of what happens to the Teamsters union, if Trump gets in and he and his GOP flunkies pass Federal Right To Work Laws (as he supports).

I don’t believe that IBT is going to endorse Trump. I believe that they will endorse Biden at the last possible minute to avoid backlash or they will not endorse anybody. Supposedly later in June, they’re going to release the straw. If they actually release the room numbers they are going to be overwhelmingly for Trump.

In an earlier post here on this forum someone talked about leadership. Leadership is being honest and telling the members you represent what you sincerely believe is in their best interests. Conduct a referendum for members, but why can’t leaders tell it like they see it about the upcoming US elections.
Taking unpopular positions is often what leadership requires. That this has not happened in the Teamsters leadership, except for Brother John Palmer, speaks volumes.

Dear MR. Team…. sorry I just can’t finish saying it.
So, Central States Pension Plan on January 1, 2023 was funded at 14 %. Because of Joe Biden (Or using your dog whistle “Sleepy Joe”) on January 12, 2023 the Central States Pension Plan was funded at 98.5%.
How many retired Teamsters, future retirees and their families are sleeping well tonight because of what “Uncle Joe” did.

Woke young socialists in the development department? I find that really hard to believe considering the last International Teamster magazine, which, by all accounts, was a blast from the very distant past.

I get your argument but being in the Western Conference Pension we didn’t need any of that. We had superior people watching over the fund. I am not signing my life away to Joe Biden for fixing someone else’s pension fund.

Thanks for making absolutely clear where you stand on Teamster solidarity or concern for the hundreds of thousands of retired and current Teamsters in the Central States Plan. So, to focus your attention on the only person you apparently care about, yourself, if CSPF had gone down, all of the employers who contribute would have been subject to crushing financial obligations under ERISA. And that includes IBT locals whose officers and staff are covered by CS. Even UPS with all of its resources was afraid of a CSPF default because of the amount of withdrawal liability it would trigger. A significant number of Teamster employers would have been forced into bankruptcy, or at least faced potentially fatal financial consequences. And, to get back to you, most of those employers also participate in the Western Conference Plan. Quite literally, if CSPF had gone down, the entire Teamster pension system would have been jeopardized, including plans currently with safe levels of funding. Any superiority you are feeling by being in the Western Plan is purely illusory.
