After deliberating with about 200+ Teamsters and activists Tony has finalized the Charter



The Independent Teamsters Organizing Committee (ITOC) united in direct response to the 2024 mass layoffs of UPS Teamsters, permitted by the failure of Teamster leadership to implement protections for workers. These layoffs, driven by AI/automation and capitalist greed, underscore the urgent need for change. This charter is our declaration, guiding our collective actions towards a future where workers take control of the means of production and reshape the economic structure. Our mission is to wrest power away from profit-driven interests, ensuring technology serves the working class.

Article I: Name and Purpose

Section 1: Name


The organization shall be known as the Independent Teamsters Organizing Committee (ITOC).

Section 2: Purpose


The purpose of ITOC is to unite, empower, and fight the bosses and capitalists. We shall resist layoffs resulting from AI/automation, ensure job retention, fight against all forms of discrimination and champion the principles of worker control over the means of production.

Article II: Commitment to Workforce Stability

Section 1: Workforce Stability

ITOC commits to advocating for the maintenance of current workforce levels and the creation of new opportunities, ensuring that technological advancements serve the interests of the working class.

Article III: Advancement of Worker Power and Reduced Workweek

Section 1: Empowering Workers Through Technology

ITOC staunchly advocates for harnessing automation and AI to empower workers and reduce the workweek without any reduction in pay. This shift is a bold assertion of worker rights, asserting our collective power to shape the terms of our labor. Rather than being subject to the whims of employers, we demand that technology serve to enhance the well-being of the working class.

Section 2: Collective Decision-Making on Technology

We assert our right to collectively participate in decisions about the introduction of technology in the workplace. The era of bosses and owners unilaterally dictating when and how technology is implemented, leading to job insecurity, is over. Collective decision-making ensures technology aligns with our interests and benefits us all.

Article IV: Safeguarding Employment and Collective Decision-Making

Section 1: Safeguarding Employment

ITOC opposes all layoffs and demands alternative solutions that prioritize job retention. No longer shall workers be discarded at the whim of profit-driven decision-makers.

Section 2: Collective Decision-Making on Employment

Decisions about workforce changes shall be subject to collective decision-making. Workers, not bosses, shall determine the fate of employment within the union.

Article V: Advocacy for Collective Workplace Control

Section 1: Advocacy for Collective Workplace Control

ITOC supports the principle of collective control over the means of production. Workers shall collectively own and democratically manage workplaces, ensuring technology is harnessed for the benefit of the working class.

Article VI: Solidarity Without Borders

Section 1: Global Economic Liberation

ITOC boldly declares its commitment to global economic liberation. We stand with workers worldwide in a revolutionary counter-movement against the oppressive forces of capitalism and colonialism.

Section 2: Indigenous Sovereignty and Revolutionary Reparations

ITOC staunchly supports the Indigenous fight for sovereignty, uncompromisingly demanding land restitution and radical economic reparations. Our solidarity is not just a call for justice but a revolutionary stance against the historical injustices perpetrated by colonial forces. We advocate for a complete upheaval of the existing economic structures that perpetuate Indigenous oppression.

Section 3: Economic Revolution for Black Communities

In resolute solidarity with the Black community, ITOC calls for a revolutionary economic transformation. We reject incremental change and demand radical reparations, challenging the systemic economic disparities embedded in centuries-old racist structures.

Section 4: Latinx Liberation and Anti-Deportation Stand

ITOC stands with Latinx communities in a revolutionary quest for economic liberation. Our solidarity fiercely opposes all deportations, rejects borders, and condemns politicians who scapegoat and demonize immigrants for political gain. Alongside the fight for liberation from capitalism, we pursue freedom of movement as an inherent right for all.

Section 5: Global Worker’s Revolution

ITOC spearheads a global worker’s revolution against capitalist and colonialist oppression. Rejecting incremental changes, we call for the radical dismantling of exploitative economic structures. Our solidarity is a resolute declaration of war against capitalism, advocating for a world where the working class seizes control, ushering in an era of true economic justice.

Article VII: Advocacy for Teamsters Leadership

Section 1: Advocacy for Teamsters Leadership

(a) ITOC ardently advocates for the Teamsters, of which ITOC members are a part, to impose restrictions on elected leaders. These restrictions include pegging their salaries and expenses at no more than 1.5 times the median US income and limiting elected leaders to serve no more than two terms.

(b) ITOC shall actively promote and support efforts within the Teamsters to enact and uphold these restrictions, ensuring that leadership remains accountable to the working class.

Article VIII: Membership Requirements and Affiliation

Section 1: Membership Requirements

(a) All members of the Independent Teamsters Organizing Committee (ITOC) must be affiliated with the Teamsters.

(b) ITOC members, in good standing, are required to maintain active membership with the Teamsters throughout their tenure with ITOC.

Section 2: ITOC-A – Affiliation for Non-Teamsters

(a) The Independent Teamsters Organizing Committee – Affiliates (ITOC-A) is the section designated for individuals who are not members of the Teamsters but wish to affiliate with ITOC for the purpose of creating their unions, organizing within their existing unions, or otherwise advancing the interests of the working class.

(b) ITOC-A members shall have full rights and privileges within ITOC, except for voting on matters specific to Teamsters’ internal affairs.

(c) ITOC-A members are encouraged to actively collaborate with Teamsters and other affiliated organizations in pursuing common goals and advocating for the rights of the working class.

(d) ITOC-A members may seek guidance and support from ITOC in their efforts to organize and advance the interests of their respective unions, fostering a broader alliance in the fight for workers’ emancipation.

Not sure for Tony and ITOC is talking about organizing against these layoffs - Tony is working to get as much community and members support against these layoffs but obviously Marky negotiated this contract so we’re focusing on local and national failure of leadership. But I know there is talk from others
