Early this morning, Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman met with rank-and-file ABF and Southern Glazer’s Teamsters in San Antonio, Texas. Joined by Teamsters Local 657 President Frank Perkins and International Vice Presidents Brent Taylor and Tom Erickson, O’Brien and Zuckerman discussed ongoing efforts to enforce the ABF National Master Freight Agreement and preparations to bargain a new, even stronger agreement in 2028. ABF Freight Teamsters fought for and won a historic 5-year national contract in 2023. The Teamsters have organized over 5,000 Southern Glazer’s workers and 70 facilities nationwide, including many states across the South.



“We’re over three years into the ABF National Master Freight Agreement. We made some big gains in this contract. But we need to set our sights even higher when we bargain a new one in 2028,” O’Brien said. “By enforcing our contract today, we are laying the foundation for an even stronger agreement in the future. That’s exactly what we’ve been doing. And that’s exactly what we’re going to continue doing.”
